Default 2002 Impreza WRX Wagon - Advice

Hi all,

Im currently in the martet for a wrx wagon, and am looking for some advice. Whilst looking Ive noticed lots of cars seem to have had engine issues in regards to the bottom half of the engine. Aldo, lots seem to have replacement engines too. Are the 2.ol WRX engines reliable?

Im after a standard one with no mods, and one Ive seen is a UK one, no mods, and has don
e 70k. What should I look for ? tests ? to ensue Im not buying a nightmare ? When should the cambelt be replaced ? How much is it to replace a cambelt ? What will need doing at 70K miles ?? How long do the turbo's / clutches last on average ?

I suppose I need advice on what to look for, issues, common problems, as Im a little out of date with Impreza's.

This car Im looking at is a 2 owner one, 70K, will 80% service history, and looks okay.

Hi there 2002 WRX are reliable, great car...
On 2002 WRX is biggest problem O2 sensor which will last sometimes 10-20k miles(mine last 10k and 100£ from eBay genuine Denso or dealer charging 300£ exc.VAT),Camshaft sensor CEL(sometimes is due over revving engine or simple missed gear, funny but true),Cambelt have been/or must be replaced at 50k,100k(mine was been replaced for 300£ inc. cambelt).
TD04 are good turbo(these turbos can last 140-160k maybe more and i don't even heard about the problems of TD04),Engine will last more than 100k(but this is big but,how with this car/engine has been treated well,if its have full FSS,you may be good),about the clutch this i don't know, because i have 4EAT(which is clutchless and is Semi auto),oil changes every 10k miles,if it have dump valve(if its Forge leave it,if its Bailey bin it) bin it and replace for standard.
