Hi can you guys tell me what type of impreza this is

yes mate a 97 p reg would be a classic and if I'm right a version 5 or 6 but I'm no expert and I'm sure someone who is more in the know will be along shortly to clear things up. But defo a classic

It depends on what the part is really mate and if the other wagon is the same version. As already said most parts can be swapped about to an point.

P reg would make it a 97/98 car, you would see the difference between them as the interior was facelifted on the 98 car, but uk spec, none mappable ecu (after market only), most parts are the same mechanically, cosmetically there are differences.

Out of interest where is the ecu located
I will post a pic cos the guy told me it had bin mapped

ECU is in the passenger footwell under the carpet under a metal plate. The plate is held on by 3 bolts and one nut, all have 10mm heads.

I believe it is in the passenger footwell.
As Tony said, the original ecu cannot be remapped (not yet anyway). I believe you can fit a daughter board with a generic map, but it will not be a specific map for that car.
The only way it can be mapped is with an aftermarket ecu. (Apexi etc) which cost anything from £700 - £2000!
