Just Had A Call From Tracker
Afternoon,
I've just been contacted by Tracker and need to locate my unit. I have had the rear seats out and found nothing. I've had my head under the dash too. The thing is, i don't even know what it looks like, i assume it is NOT going to have TRACKER slapped all over it?
If any one has a picture of a Tracker unit they could PM or E-Mail to me, that would be a great help. As it's f'ing freezing out and i don't really want to be stripping the dash if i can avoid it. It wasn't a factory fit so i can't see it being too far in the depths. It is looking like a cold one for me tomorrow.
Any help greatly appreciated. Ta.

It' a little black box which will most likely be under the dash near the centre consol stuck on the loom. You will struggle to find it your better of going to an auto electrician or auto audio outlet and get them to locate it for you.

Ummm... When I had a tracker fitted at the dealership they refused to tell me where it is due to security reasons and people knowing where it is so that the car cannot be taken without the tracker being removed first. Did get a certificate to show I had one though....

ask tracker if they know the engineer who fitted it, they can then contact him, different fitters have a favourate places to fit them i have had 2 fitted in the past and they were both in different places to the above

Yeah, i have tried to contact the company that fitted it but no joy. Can't even find any archive topics about them on the net.
I'll get in there tomorrow and see whats what.
Have done alot of searching online and it seems that most aftermarket fitters tend not hide them too well. So i shouldn't get too cold, hopefully.

They need a permanent live feed and earth so are often cut into the wiring going up the steering column to the ignition switch. If you don't have too many other gadgets spliced in then you can maybe work back from the supply feeds.

When my car was off the road for over a month, i got a call from tracker saying that my battery was low. Tracker came out to replace the battery, 5 hours latter the tracker engineer gave up and fitted another. So i now have 2 working trackers. LOL

sounds dodgy to me, the reason I say this is I'm a registered Tracker installer and when the tracker is installed they are informed where abouts on the vehicle the said unit is located on the instalation form, So why do they want to know where it is ??
as Tracker told me when training if the customer knows where it is it's no good as its easilly found and removed.

to me it sounds dodgy also, how hard the tracker is to find depends on how lazy the fitter is and how many he has to do in a day, i have seen them fitted any where.

Me too ! The only reasons I know I have one are a certificate and a flat battery when I don't use the car over winter !

I fitted a tracker from ebay you can track yourself via mobile sms 60-80 quid, loads of other features
I bet the tracker firms dont want them to catch on and ruin their rip off prices
