Default Litchfield Type 25

Anybody got any more info on these.

I'd always had these down as the ultimate impreza. Using a Cosworth Block & pistons i'd always assumed they'd be well up for the 400bhp and its a subaru tuned properly with bespoke turbo and all that

but the Youtube video from 5th gear where they drove it is full of comments about them blowing up.

I didnt think the type 25 would be effected by the same issues as the UK 2.5 engine.

Anybody know any different ?

No it isn't.... The Type25 MKI and MKII have always been 2.5's. The Type20 is 2ltr.

I put a MKII Type25 engine (and some!) in my previous Spec C.

Didn't the MK1 Type 25 use a USDM 2.5 litre block and the MK2 Type 25 use a Cosworth supplied block?

Type 25 or Type 20 are references to engine displacement if I'm not mistaken.

correct TYPE 20 a 2.0ltr, TYPE 25 a 2.5ltr, as said the mk1 type 25 used the US block and some a few have gone pop, the mk2 was the cosworth build so should be all good in that department. The mk1 can be had around 12-15k the mk2 around 25k so a big difference in price. both cracking cars albeit the t20 or t25, plus Iain and jenny are tops, always willing to help, with great service.

mk1 kept the JDM heads and used the 2.5 US block.
mk2 used the whole US Cosworth built tall engine, heads, block, cams, etc.

Different again to the CS400, which appears to be a carefully tested forged build, by the Northampton Cosworth team.
