Default Your opinions on simtec please !

I'm in the process of booking a day with Duncan from race dynamix's ,to fit a new symtec ecu and remap, can anyone tell me there experience's of this particular ecu opposed to me getting my Y7 ecutec'd.

Am i going to see major difference's i'm currently running 202hp after a power run at corten miller,my car is a classic myoo fitted with a TD04, japspeed decat downpipe ,cosworth filter, walbro fuel pump,EJ25 block b25c 701.

Any feedback will be greatly recieved.

no mate 202hp was the print out from corten miller performance with 240 torque ,im lead to believe the 701 block is from a legacy usdm ,not really 100% sure but been told can only handle low boost ,the car was bought about 6 mths ago and found out later it had a 2.5 fitted.

I'm boosting about 0.7bar which is pretty low so im really interested to see the results after new ecu and remap.

Which i know FMIC will be laggy, due pipework, but i don't recognize any lag on my WRX.STi7/8 will be better option for you, this TMIC is good up to 400BHP.
I recommend and most people recommend,if you are running more than 400BHP buy FMIC,but under 400BHP stick with STi7/8 TMIC.
I brought mine due bonnet....

You do not need an FMIC with a TD04. However once you get to 350 bhp the gains from a front mount will be worthwhile.

The money your going to spend on a simtek, id buy some more bolt on mods(slightly bigger turbo like a VF28/VF34/35) and get your ecutek tweaked, Simtek would be great once you go over 350bhp and if you want to go mafless. But dont forget if you have a UK car your going to be pushing the engine and gearbox at anything over 350bhp.

Sorry but my last car ran Simtek aswell as present and both have knock control, by CEL dim flash to bright flash depending how much knock.

Simtek imho is brill value for money, but as said only really when pushing 390 +

Yep with TD04 you can go to top around 270-280BHP.Just look here some guys here selling the VF35 for around 250£,you will need bigger injectors and you will see around 330-340BHP(if you are lucky maybe 350BHP,but Big D get from VF35 382BHP)or TD05-16G are good turbo(again same BHP than VF35),but beware before Chinese knock off/fakes.
Wait until you have new turbo(paying twice is not very wise),because pay again for tweaking map 150£ is big luxus

Simtek does not have knock control. What you have set up and are seeing when the CEL is flashing is det warning to lift off.

Actual knock control retards the timing when detected. There should be a release at some point adding this feature, along with idle control.

Because he doesnt offer anything else for 99.

Ecutek remap would be ideal for your car imho

Is the 2.5 litre block from a legacy/forrester etc??? If so then it wont be any stronger because its a 2.5, Its whats inside the block which counts, Also seen plenty of 2.2litre legacy engines aswell being passed of as 2.2 litre 22B engines.

Not saying that a Simtek is only needed when at 390bhp, Personally I think paying over a grand for a Ecu when you can pay half that and get your exsisting ecu remapped would be the better option giving your mods!!!!! Extra money could pay for other things!!!!
