I had a similar problem recently with my horn not working, turned out to be the ribbon cable inside the steering wheel boss had broken, my garage fitted a switch by the fog light switch on the dash to work the horn, I can live with the indicators not always cancelling !

sounds like the squib is dead - its the cable broken behind the wheel, it can only be turned a certain number of time by the steering wheel before the cable inside breaks - its very thin so you wouldnt feel a resistance
