Default New windscreen - new trim?

Thanks to a stone I now have a large crack in my windscreen.

Before I call up to get it replaced I'm interested to know what other people have done with regards to getting new trim fitted at the same time.

My old car was seriously rusty around the windscreen as I guess the trims weren't replaced when the screen was changed and I don't want this to happen to this car too.

So.....

Do I ask Autoglass (or whoever the approved company is) to get the new trim?

Will the insurance company arrange for new trim?

Will I end up having to order and buy trim from Subaru?

Also - do people generally insist on a genuine Subaru windscreen too????

Please let me know what you have done!

Thanks in advance

when i had my windscreen replaced last yr. they tried to replace it with standard glass but told them to put original in as thats whats covered.plus if /when u sell the car then it might make people think twice as it dont have the original glass in.

remember the standard subaru glass has green tint plus if u get normal glass u will need a sunstrip as when both sunvisors are down u will notice the small black section is to help prevent sun coming through,

they wont replace the rubber unless u pay for a new one.

My experience with Autoglass was this

They didnt bring any trim or clips
They didnt have a clue what they were doing

It leaked when finished

I then bought all new trims and clips, took it back to Autoglass, who then bent the new trim and put the clips on back to front(the clips are actually colour coded so you dont get it wrong)

I then bought another new trim at £75,and some new clips and took it to a local independent windscreen fitter, been perfect since,in fact i watched them do it and was so impressed i got a new front windscreen done by them a week later

So personally i wouldnt let Autoglass anywhere near my car again.
