Good Choice, i was looking at MY05 Blobs, and nearly went to look at the first one, but a black one came up in my area for a very very good price

Based on the info there it seems like a No Brainer... The First One.

Less Miles, More Goodies, Lower Price

But Service History and Overall condition when you get there will be the key, is the second one worth £2k more? It'd have to be pretty special to justify it imho!!

2nd one IMO. Goodness only knows what's been done to the first one and to what standard. Seen enough instances on here of people buying privately modded cars only to discover it's been modded wrong or thrashed to within an inch of it's life. Fair bet no. 1 had the '****' caned off of it. If it's in such 'excellent' condition, why is it soo much cheaper than the other?

I wouldn't go near number one personally. Number two carries a far lower risk that someone has dicked around with it.

I would disagree with that, if a car has had that much money spent on it personalising and upgrading it, you can almost go as far as to assume it has had whatever money needed spending on it maintaining it.

The mods are not silly mods, all choice aesthetic and modest performance upgrades. I certainly wouldnt consider this a negative at all, far from it.

As as for price, £11k is overpriced my a MY05 i wouldnt say number one was underpriced, about right for a quick sale. It was clearly part exchanged for something else.

Just the way i would look at it.

Fair point ER, although I would suggest the upgrades are rather more than 'modest'. I do think that as he's gone soo far as to not just upgrade the suspension but actually get a quick rack fitted makes it pretty clear this car has got 'thrashed' written all over it. I wonder what state the clutch, discs, pads, exhaust, bearings etc. are in. Doubtless the dealer will say they're all fine and properly maintained just like they told me when I bought my first Impreza... just before I discovered the clutch judder was not actually a 'characteristic of the car'. Luckily Subaru Pangbourne went out of business -

Ouch, not good. I see what you mean, but there are countless cars on here modified to be a nicer car, not just for added raggability.
For example, by adding all the Spec-C parts at least means someone knows a good spec list when they see one.

I also think it stems from the fact i am a cheapskate, lol.

Getting a car with more... for less... is psychologically a winner any day of the week...
...but i guess thats thinking with the heart not the head.

Each to their own i guess.

if it was my hard earned cash i would pay the little extra and buy #2.... its a car that has obviously had every added extra fitted new from the factory regardless of its cost and had no expense spared at all. imo its a stunning example of a unmolested subaru impreza sti . #1 is ok for that price with its mods, but i would only buy a car unmolested . if you buy #1 you will at one point- think"god i wish i d of got that other scooby now"..... and if you want to mod it at some point then do so.....at least then you can put your own stamp on it.... At the end of the day, you will only buy what you want to buy. All the best tho

I can vouch for number 1 as its my old car.

Its actually had a very easy life in the 2 years I owned it and I would still have it now if I hadn't PX'd it for a 'new' Spec C.

It did have EXE-TC coilovers on it but I had these removed as they will go on the Spec C.

All work was carried out by TSL, RCM and Subaru4You. The TSL 333 conversion with Pulse extraction exhaust was already fitted when I bought it.

You can make your own mind up when you view it, just wanted to give you a heads up after such comments as...

"2nd one IMO. Goodness only knows what's been done to the first one and to what standard. Nic has said more or less what he needs to say which gives you an insight into the cars history.
The condition of the car speaks for its self and is immaculate. The fact that it has Black interior and a delete spoiler should be enough to convey to anyone that the previous owner was mature and wanted something low key and not in your face. The price is very cheap imo that cheap that i have a main Subaru dealer coming to buy it on Tuesday.

Immy

both are potentialy good buys but without seeing either in the Flesh, I'd go with No1

1 for me too.

If you're going to keep the car standard then maybe No2.

If you think you might mod then No1.

No2 is aready 2k more, then maybe 3k in mods to get it to the same level as No1. Already you've got a difference of 5k, so even if you had a blown engine new clutch etc you're still in front.

Just my opinion.
