Default Squeaky Noise on 2005 STI

Hi There, I've got a squeaky noise coming from the front nearside wheel on my 2005 Impreza STI.

The squeak is like brakes squeaking and there is no rhyme or reason to it, as it doesn't do it all the time and it can happen when braking or not, accelerating or not and so on.

I've just had the front lower ball joint replaced on the same side and the brake discs & pads are very low.

Wondered if anyone could help please?

Thanks

it means you need new pads! It makes this noise on purpose to let you know they need changing.

Thank you Mifo, that seems to make sense.

Although you would think it would happen when braking more so than not?

FYI 05STI the brake pads have a small piece of metal that touches the brake disk when enough pad material has been worn off. When it squeels you should be thinking of changing pads. As I say though you would imagine it would happen when braking?

EDIT: If the noise is doing your head in you can reach round to the wear indicator and pull it off/bend it so that the squeek stops but you will still need to be thinking new pads.

I've got exactly the same problem right now on my STI. Getting some nice new discs and pads on the car tomorrow. I'll confirm after that the noise has stopped, I hope...

I don't have to be braking to get the noise. Moreover it tends to get louder when I turn the steering wheel.

Most of time when it does make the noise is when I'm not braking as well, it be good if you can confirm tomorrow if the noise has stopped.

What discs & pads have you gone for
