Why buy your first scooby
Was discussing with fellow workmates today why i bought an impreza and thought it would genarate some interesting stories.
Ok ill start, while bein on the pat n mick ( sick ) with broken ribs, I was extremely bored. The daily house cleaning orders were completed, so i planked my *** in front of the pc and started looking at cars for sale via PH and ebay ( sad hobby of mine ).
Coming across a nice 2 door impreza it dawned on me I had never been in one . So gave the fella a call to go and basically kick his tyres ( first time btw ) and finally get a go in a scoob.
After having a quick look round I jumped in for the test drive, well blow me away what a car. The fella said to me " on ye go , give it some ". Worst thing to say, I booted the s**t out it and at one point the fella even let out a girlie squeel .
We got back from the test drive and i said ill take it. And thats how i became an impreza owner.

Reason why I bought my first scoob was the distinctive sound they make..
http://youtu.be/EIeGMfsgBuk
Everything else about them was a bonus
Out of the many cars that I've owned, the three scoobs I've owned have been the most fun & the most reliable.

I first liked with them 15 years ago in the wrc.
About 10 months ago I had enough money to buy one after only ever owning vauxhalls and a bmw. I took a black blobeye uk my03 out for a test drive and this car absolutely blew me away . It was probably in excess of 350bhp but the lady " trader" I was buying the car off couldnt tell me what mods had been done on it so I let it go.
Four months later I found a my03 blue blobeye wrx sti ppp which I've now owned for 6 months and by far the best six months of my 20 years driving to date.
Yes it cost more money to run than the average car but for pure driving pleasure the positive looks and stares you get from people on the road and people commenting on how amazing you car is I wouldnt change it for anything.

My story might seem a bit odd.
Well i never really wanted to go to uni, and every year at uni i swore if i can just finish my degree ill get a job good enough to get a scoob. I always loved em from rally and of course that sound.
Sure enough, as soon as i finished uni, i landed a good job and got my feet down and bought my scoob! Made all that trouble totally worth it. Was literally a dream come true. It was awesome. Was blown away by how fast something that cheap could be. amazing value.
And now just realised the next step in the dream. the e46 m3

I had first never really got into cars. Then started watching rallying. While I was working at safeways as a ugly teen. Still ugly now lol. There was a regular who had a uk TURBO. I noticed this in parkers guide as a uk 2000 awd. So I asked him next time he popped in. He said I was wrong and I was on about a ford 2000.
Well after leaving army I wanted one though hesitant about engine blowing up I brought one. A STI MY99 V5 and have never regretted it.

As per most other input here, the sound. In about 2000 I had a Clio 16v and was getting it serviced when in the next garage, an Impreza was being revved and I was sold. Seven years later...........

Try to cut a long one short.
Never wanted a scoob as I've always been a straight line racer and had no need for anything that went round corners, or so I thought anyway.
Looking through the classifieds for a cheap estate car I found a Wagon at a local main dealer and me and her went off to take a peek.
Said car was truly sh1te, which I duly told the sales guy.
'What's the matter with it?' says he.
'Well considering it's a Subaru it goes like a three legged pig, amongst other things' says I.
(At this time I hadn't realised it was a Sport and had assumed all scoobs had a turbo). No offence to sport owners BTW.
'I think you'd better try that WRX then' said sales guy.
He didn't listen to my protests about it not being a wagon (it was a 2002 bugeye), and we were press ganged in to a test drive.
And bought it

Mine is a little odd too. Bought a 318is, swapped it for a 323i thinking it would be a monster compared to the little 1.9 beemer, and it completely failed to hit the mark. Took a 98 UK model out for a spin and got bitten, then got properly bitten and stacked it into a 2 foot kerb. Went onto sports bikes for the last 4 years but our new baby soon pushed me away from bikes so went for the next best thing.
Happy again!

Well I was 23 with a pregnant bird. Got pissed off watching all my mates still go out clubbing. '**** this' I thought. 'If I can't go out I'm having a ridiculous car' And 2 weeks later it was sat on my drive.

My story is similar to superstu55 & neil1980's in some ways.
I've always loved cars and have watched all sorts of motorsport on tv since a very young age. At 17-18 years old I was attending trackdays & racing drivers courses regularly from late 97 onwards (basically since I got my driving licence) and have always wanted to have a fast car to drive at these events. My love of the Subaru Impreza was enhanced by watching spectacular rally drivers like Colin McRae and in later years Richard Burns driving them to the limit in the WRC. So I set myself the goal to own an Impreza by the time I was 25 years old when I was 16 but this dead line came and went unfortunately.
It was years later and only after a friend had got an import Impreza type RA V-limited that I started thiking that maybe now I could afford the Impreza, as well as the insurance & the increased petrol/maintenance bills. After months & months of searching, test drives & long drives to strange places I finally thought I had the perfect Impreza to start my Subaru dream off; a my96 WRX Import. I bought it and 2 1/2 years+ later I still love it when I drive it; even after all the cars put me through financially, which is a lot!.

MOT was due on my ST24 Mondeo engine was sweet but the rest was shot too S**t, so told the wife I was off to look for a new car "make sure it's a Family car" I hear when closing the door, so popped into a garage looked at an A4 diesel, BMW something or other, and a couple of others but the whole time this silver S reg Impreza kept on catching my eye, as much as I wanted to ignore it as I thought I couldn't insure it, the guy then told me it was a standard UK car owned by a 70 year old, told him I'd think about it and if I could afford the insurance I would be back for a test drive in the morning, have now owned that car for just over 2 and a half years and the wife loves it too and my 3 year old loves tunnels

Had a 3.0 V6 6 speed Vectra B pushing 250bhp that I`d heavily modified, and was offered a 1995 Import for £500 with a dead engine.
So thought sod it, I`ve always loved them.
I`d agreed to buy it and then my Vectra decided to throw a rod through the front and rear of the block during a hard motorway run (fate).
So stripped the main bits and standalone management, and spent the bits on the Impreza. Now shes fully rebuilt and on the road and I`m loving it (bar mpg and a sodding Lambda sensor) few things to sort out and some paint and she`ll be A1.

I'd sold my evo as it was too expensive to run as a daily car, and bought a golf gti. Found it boring then other half's bro bought a scoob and said it was cheaper to run. We looked at servicing schedule which was more realistic so I decided I'd give one a try.
After years of being 100% evo's I bought a blob sti running 322/326 and love it. It's a cracking car and is not too bad on the running costs and it's quick enough to kick the **** of most things that fancy a rumble.

My lass was pregnant with my daughter and the birh date was getting closer and closer and I could not bring myself to sell my Mitsi FTO (rare in them days) as i didnt want a boring run of the mill family car, so I went to local independant dealer who specialised in Subaru's and Evo's. I saw a 2002 Bug WRX cyprus import in his showroom for 8500 in early 2005 which i thought was a bloody bargain. He offered me 4500 for my FTO which I was very happy about, HOWEVER... My mate wanted my FTO (like i said they were rare in this country then) and he had a knackered Celica he wanted shut of... so the plan... Take the Celica to the garage and get a price for PX'ing against the WRX.... the garage offered him 2750 which he was astonished with, so he posed as me using my driving lic and other supporting docs and we (he and the dealer) did the deal. He drove his (my) wrx out of the showroom and we simply swapped cars and rang up in the insurance... and sorted the cash out that evening.... simples....
So the end result, I got a cheap price on the 2002 WRX (FAMILY CAR), My mate got a FTO that he wanted, he got rid of a rust bucket he didnt want, and the MRS had the family car that she never drove lol!!!!
So that spurred the love for the flat four rumble along with performance that i didnt think you could get from a four door family car. Im currently Scoobyless BUT im on the hunt for my Fourth Impreza.... ;-) I now have the Scooby blood, and always seek more power each time I own one, so anything beyone 370 will be my next target;

5 months before passing my driving test I found out I could get insured on a sport for £1600. Thats sealed it for me so I bought one from Sheffield and had it saton my drive until I did pass my test.
