second cat ha ha
Right guys just need this clearing up, if i leave the downpipe alone and just change second cat (short section) to a straight through pipe and the centre section to a straight through pipe do i need a re-map?
Been told i dont by some people but do by others.

It depends on the car year/model tbh ?

Generally yes though as you are removing a restriction in the exhaust system so the turbo will spool differently and as such the way that the standard ecu map controls it may be wrong.

i would say you dont 'need' one but you wont be seeing the main benefits if you dont get a remap

I did this on a Blob wrx about a month ago.

I put a thread up asking the same question as i was unsure and the replies i got were that it wasn't needed. I haven't had a cel yet and it seems to be driving as it was before without any issues, but Dynamix knows a lot more about engines than i do!

I do intend getting mine mapped once i've sourced somemore bits to go with it as i want to do it once rather than pay for 2 mapping sessions.

I havent remapped my 2005 STi Blob, no CEL light came on when I put a blitz exhaust on there. Having said that, it does seem to be using more petrol, and my mate thinks its running rich as he says he can smell it when the car first starts. Whether or not he's right is another matter!

I removed all the cats, uppipe, downpipe and centre and replaced with a Prodrive sports cat, ran for around 4 months before remapping, only issue was a couple of cat below efficiency CEL's.
