Cherish plate transfer.

When you send the V778 retention certificate to your LVLO (post or can be done in person) to assign the mark to your car, they will send you a new tax disc to expire at the same time as the old one on the vehicle (there is a space on the form to fill in the expiry date). You then send the old tax disc back.
Instructions are on the V778.....

I have had a cherish number put on to a retention certificate....
Now the car it is to go on has 12 months tax (with the old reg no. on it) --> how do I now transfer the new cherish number onto my car by post --> surely the car will go for a week without displaying a tax disc....?? Are there any forms I need to fill in with the retention certificate.....?
Help !

Why do it by post there must be a local DVLO near you, all you need to do is to present the retention certificate, Log book or your part of it, MOT if applicable to the car and the old Tax disc, I have done this a month ago at Worcester DVLO and they issued a new tax disc, and a covering letter to use until my Registration Document arrived. It took all of about 10 minutes and I could bolt on my new plates immediately.
If you have paid £105 to put the number on retention then there is no more to pay.
