Hi,
I'm seriously considering buying a set of Bugeye Stsi seats (plus door cards etc ) and fitting them to my Blobeye WRX Wagon.
Now I saw that someone else was doing this and posted ( possibly Mr Windscreen or similarly named ) that he was doing this , causing the Airbag light to go on..
Now is the light coming on because this is Bugeye Seats going into a Blobeye? Or something else? Would I be better fitting Blobeye STi seats into my car for NO Airbag light to come on?
I appreciate any help here people.. To be honest I want as little hastle as possible as I'm VERY untechnical

make sure you disconnect the battery prior to removal should be straight swap

 

Was me mate, put STI seats in my WRX. Airbag light stays on when engine is running, but i have found a cheap fix for it

 

Its easy, the WRX has side airbags fitted, the STI doesnt, so removing the seats means you set the warning light off, no doubt a way around it but you have to make sure it doesnt affect the rest of the airbag/pretensioner systems reliability.

On a pratical note....put the front seats in via the back door half reclined (back seat out). Two man job as there are some sharp bits of metal under the seat which will make mincemeat of you paint LOL

a couple of resistors from maplin solves the airbag light think 3.3 ohms but not 100% sure. Another alternative is hawkeye sti front seats as these also have side airbags. Uk type only though

My 1st thought was is it really worth removing life-saving equipment from the car when it was made with it..knowing my luck someone would run into the side of me the day after I swapped them! Daz there has given me hope saying Hawkeye seats have the side airbags and would prob be the easier option for me.

I've used 2.2 ohm resistors from Maplin. Don't know what the exact resistance should be but 2.2 definitely works. Just double over the wire ends so they are a snug fit in the connectors and tape up so they can't be dislodged.

 

4.7 ohms is the correct rating required for the resistor. Alternatively you can buy squibs from Subaru that plug directly into the airbag connector - these are about £10 each iirc

 

Can anyone confirm what resistor is actually needed, says about 3 different ones above lol.
