Blobeye STi.. I do like that Classics, and the P1 is a lovely car , but they are now averaging 10 yrs old, plus from what I've read P1 engines go pop unless they've been rebuilt already.

You could probably get a Hawkey STi for that sort of money, better looking IMHO, but the engine isn't as strong.
Blobeye JDM STI is the one to go for, no lag & bulletproof with loads of goodies that the Type UK was lacking.

An engine only goes pop if it has been abused and poorly maintained, i had my RA for 5 years, it had covered 120k, I bought it with only 28k on the clock's, and the babe is still running today, only thing I had done in that time was brakes and clutch, if I had 10k I would buy a P1 but only use it on weekends, P1 will hold its value allot better, as you can see, u can pick up a WR1 for a little more than 10k, this could be an option.

Biggi, I'm not saying that Classics go pop. I'm sure I've read on here that P1 engine's have the reputation for going pop cos the map wasnt right or something.. I'm sure someone will keep me right here..

A Prodrive bugeye STI in black. Mods to late 300s power and torque. Big offset white wheels. Bride seats, takata harnesses.
That is what I would do with Ģ10K.

I guess its the p1 itīs gonna hold its value alot better, thanks guys. Only thing is it looks a bit dated now whereas the blob and hawkeyes look fresher IMO, so if i get a p1 and keep it for a few years itīs gonna look even more dated. Iīm not sure if the wr1īs will keep their money or become very collectable, they donīt seem to be a whole lot more expensive than a normal uk spec sti. JDM maybe a good idea but is it true that you dont get the boxer growl??? I couldnt live without the sound my afterburner makes!

Type R Ver 6 for Ģ8 to Ģ9k or Blob JDM Sti for Ģ9k to Ģ10k
IMO Classics, especially & P1 & Type R will age much better than Blobs in the looks dept.
A JDm twin scroll with e.g a H&S Jap exit 3" system sounds like nothing you have ever heard!!

Well this would be on my shopping list, Bob Rawles old 2003 JDM twinscroll car
http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/1813248.htm
And my old Spec C is up for sale at a little over 10k, just not quite as comfy
http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/1809767.htm
Either way, both are more capable cars than the P1 and give you a very good driving experience without knowing if your engine is going to go pop or not

you save up another 2 k by a blown up classic type r and start from scrtch
3k 2.1 stroker
1k simtek
3k dog box
front mount, injectors??
turbo??
you will have a 450bhp monster for that and get some big brakes

The choice of just the two (p1 & sti) was because i only have 10 grand! Thanks for the feedback though because iīll now be adding to that list and looking at some JDMīs and spec Cīs if they come in under 10 gīs!

I thought that the problem with early P1's was the mapping and the fuel rail which caused the final piston to receive petrol to run lean causing it to over heat and eventually fail, hence engine going pop.
I was under the impression that on later ones they fitted a parrellel fuel rail which rectified the problem so these cars wont eventually need a rebiuld.

the p1's went pop because prodrive didn't have enough time to map them properly and put crystals in the tank to add the extra ron to the fuel, they ran out in the end and the engine goes pop. i would be looking at a type r instead of the p1 due to the fact there cheaper for a start and i would want the little extras like dccd and intercooler spray. but as has been said if you want it for a daily driver the new ages beat the classics hands down, if you want a weekend tarmac terror the classics the way to go.

Prodrive were not allowed to map them that was the main issue, the map was changed at Subaru Japan, modifying them didnt help, atleast those with the JDM cars at the time knew they could be tempremental on uk fuel

Had a 370bhp Bugeye and loved it only sold it cus I lost my job, but now own a V6 type r running 323bhp and love it even more than the bug. I wasnt to sure on the looks to start with but have owned it for about 8 months now and love the look of it more and more, defo grows on you. Bit harder ride though so if its comfort your after go for the blob.
My money Id get a v6 or a P1 and spend the rest on nice mods. Try and get a drive in both cars and see which one makes you smile the most, and a tenner says it will be the classic
