hi... just seen that this is the turbo on my impreza. just wondered whats peoples opinions of em are and how much hp can you get out of it?

 

Heavy but tough critter, can just about cope with removing the dump valve for that "chatter" sound.

Very old school but with mods can get 320 plus BHP and depending on how agressively they are mapped can lunch the majority of drivetrains until the six speed newage gearbox arrived LOL

niceee.. ive always loved the chatter sound. would it be quite loud and could it still cope with 320plus without the dumpvalve?

Standard on early cars, and mine works just fine.

was hoping to hear more about taking the dump valve off for the chatter.. seeing as i've got a 555 and want it to be as original to the rally car as possible looks and sound wise.

 

Yes fine to take dump valve, and blank it. TD series are hard. So enjoy chatter. It will shorten life of turbo, but not by much. Just enjoy it. a secondhand td05 won't be much. HA

 

I put up with the noise for about 4 month's with the DV blanked off, then it got on my nerves.

No ill effects though.
