Default Ok which ECU?

I have a 2004 wrx sti type UK.
Fitted engine mods are:
K&N panel filter
Scorpion 3 inch pipe with 5 inch tail pipe taking out the 3rd cat.
Baileys dump valve.

I am going to get done just before i sort out ecu:
decat down pipe.

Do i spend a lot of money and change the ecu altogether or do i get the standard one chipped and flashed or just flashed?

I have checked my ecu as it is a second hand car and it is a standard ecu but has "no chip set" wrote on it, so i presume this means it has a standard chip?

I don't really want to spend big money on the ecu, but have noticed it isn't running quite smooth plus i want to fit the decat down pipe!

Most common options when talking to other subaru owners i have met are (other than flashing standard):
Gems
Symtek
Apexi

Your OEM DENSO ECU is pretty capable and can handle a lot more than that Just needs re-mapping (flashing) LOL

Just pay £500 and have your original ecu tweaked.
