I know this should go into the Insurance forum, but I thought it may amuse the rest of you...

I've been phoning around for insurance on a new WRX STI and I spoke to one company (cant remember who) who was coming up with quotes of around £2500 - £3000.
I'm 29, and heve been getting other quotes of around £1000, so this was a surprise. The guy I was speaking to said he'd re-run it through the system.....he came back after about 5 mins and said that even he thought the prices were expensive, as whilst he was running my details through the system, he replaced the WRX STI with a Ferrari F40 & Porsche Boxter and the quotes came back at around the £2000 mark!!!

It just goes to show that some insurers are using systems that are not working out premiums correctly, hence push them for a better price..

In the end they said they would underwrite the insurance for £1000.

When and where is it being held??
I'm a fraud at the moment as I don't actually have the car yet, but it'd be nice to come along to see what happens :-)

well noodle i am 24 and have had my MY98 PPP turbo for about six months now and i am paying £835 fully comp with a DR 10 on my license.

I know there is a difference in the price of the cars but i can't believe that you will be paying more than me at the ripe old age of 29 ; )

Why don't you give direct line a call and see what they say, if you havent already that is.

I can tell you a nice tale that happened to me the opposite way. I am lucky enough to have a Lotus Elise and when shopping around for insurance two years ago I was using various online quote sites to gather some quotes together. One (who I shall not name) came up with a quote of about half of what all the others were chruning out so I rang them to check.

Thye informed me that there was an error in their sofwtare, but that they would still honour the figure I'd been given. So it was that I got my insurance for about half of what I should have paid. Top marks to them and I'm still with them now.

Regards,

tiggers.
