Default Powerstation any good?

Anyone had their car remapped at Powerstation before?

Was thinking to get an ecutek package for my 2005 wrx.

Just wondering if they do the maps themselves (and if so are they any good?) or whether they enlist the services of a third party, eg Andy Forrest etc

They did my vf34, up pipe, down pipe, map etc etc. Very good. Car ( bug WRX) runs in the 315/315 region. Smooth and progressive map. Good unit, from my perspective. Have used them a few times now. Great customer care and comms.

I have only ever heard good things about Powerstation..and I am certainly happy with all the world they have ever done on my STI. Although I will admit I havent had them map it.

I use www.jollygreenmonster.co.uk for all my mapping needs.

He can map on the road or you can pop along with him to a local rolling road and have it done that way.

They mapped my 2003 STI before I got Bob to re-map it.

Use Rob Rawle

Powerstation do their own mapping on a rolling road. There are pros and cons of a rolling road mapping session vs. an on road session (like Bob Rawle does). Personally I prefer the latter

Powerstation were behind the first few generations of the Litchfield Type 20's / 25's and they have a good reputation. Presumably they also do mapping at Litchfield's new place (also near Tewkesbury)?

So the general consensus is that they are a reputable tuner, but I should get a third party such as bob Rawle, A Forrest, or JGM to map?

What are the main benefit/disadvantage of open road vs RR mapping.

I was always told it was better to map on RR

As you drive your car on the road and not on the rollers its prob best to get it mapped on the road. Or mapped on the rollers then tweaked on the road.

To Powerstation.

They mapped my classic Impreza and have also carried out some other repair work on the scoob as well as various tuning sesions.

Going back to them this afternoon for their 4 wheel alignment.

i had bad customer service from Powerstation. Travelled a fair old distance(pre-booked). When i arrived i waited over an hour for someone to start work on the car even though there was nothing else going on in the workshop. work commenced for 1 hour and was then told that the mechanic was going to have an hour for lunch. I then waited another two hours for work to be completed. There was nothing to do in the area nearby. All i had done was anti lift kit, rear anti roll bar and four wheel alignment . I was there for about 5 hours bored sh/tless. Never again. No wonder they fell out with Litchfield

Most people as said above end up getting their powerstation maps 'tweaked' afterwards by proper ECU specailists for smoother power delivery

My experiance was similar to the above, however the actual work itself was spot on, I have to say though Simon (JGM) is a great guy to work with and you really do feel involved when he's mapping.

I've never had to get someone else to `Tweak my map', never will.

Anyway, another great time at Powerstation yesterday, booked in for 4 wheel alignment and was looked after very well, from start to finish.

Going back very soon for their Stage 3 Suspension upgrade, cannot wait.

You should've walked into the town. I wandered around the town, takes about 20 mins to walk there, bought a car mag and enjoyed a local cafe. Day sorted.

I've been there twice now, first for ALK, ARB & Geom, then back for front ARB and ASTs amongst other things. (and i live in scotland!)

I never have a problem with Powerstation customer service, but then I've been using them for years for servicing etc.The only reason i got Bob Rawle to remap my car was because he got a great reputation and there was a group buy on here and he is only 30 minutes drive from Cheltenham. If your coming to Powerstation and you don't live local then i would drop the car off then catch a Bus to Cheltenham or Gloucester and have a walk about the town or city center or go to the BP garage on the main road(A46) and buy some mags. But i live locally, i just drop my car off then catch a bus home and collect it at the end of the day

always been good at powerstation but a long way to go so tried lets say a mapper closer to home and the fueling on the powerstation map was all over the shop and even went off the bottom of the graph

I've heard the same thing from a fellow SN member.
Apparently Litchfield have parted ways with Powerstation and no longer have work on their cars done by them.
Not sure how true this is, or why they went their seperate ways though.

Will take most of the day, so off into the local town it is!

Yeah. That's a bit backwards.

If you can't afford a remap on a rolling road, then an on road remap will do. However, ideally, a rolling road remap will always be best.
