Both shell stations close to me have no V Power and dont know when they are getting any more. One suggested there may be a problem with production, anyone heard anything?

I heard (from the shell garage) they have had a technical problem with production, they have been out out of vpower down here for over a week now also no knowledge of when it will be sorted.

Not sure that Tesco 99 would be better than Shell V Power, Shell being one of the biggest petrol and Oil producers on the planet...

Funny that; Depending on where you live, the fuel Shell uses in their forecourts doesn't necessarily come from their refinery:

For example, Grangemouth as mentioned above used to be BP and is now owned by Ineos - yet it supplies Shell forecourts, amongst many others, supermarkets included. As do the other refineries Institute of Petroleum - Education - Map of UK Refineries

The only Shell owned refinery in the UK is Stanlow; it does not supply every Shell forecout (logistically speaking it would cost far too much, even if it did have the capacity). And there is even talk that Shell may sell the plant should a buyer come along with the right offer.

copied from the other site i use , the chap who posted is a fuel tanker driver

right folks STANLOW TERMINAL were v power is produced was ment to be closed down for 3months for upgrade repairs etc etc which ment no v power for up to 3 months there a good 5 weeks into this now so technically another 7 weeks to go but good news is there actually a month ahead of there planned work so hopefully should be around another 4 weeks of this.....

mark wrx just to answer the 97,98 ron question above about BP, tesco, vpowers RON ???
BP ULTIMATE IS 97 RON, TESCO IS A 99 RON, AND V POWER is actually a 97 RON super unleaded fuel but people think its a 98 RON but its not a garanteed 98 RON fuel this is why on all the pumps at shell garages you'll never see a 98 ron or 97 sticker on the pumps becuase of the implications of selling fuel that doesnt garantee us of what it states so v power mostly specs at a 97 RON that is a garanteed low ron figure..... but at sometimes when freshly delivered and not stored in tanks for sometime it can make a good 98 RON hope this helps.... in kingsbury theres a lot of fuel exchange as bp/shell are joint ownership of the terminal there well it says it all that all your diesel and unleaded comes from the same tank at the moment shell are getting there fuel from texaco kingsbury and esso bromford lane as they have used there allocation of fuel for the month

Unhappy

All the shell garages we've tried around North Bristol and Yate don't have any. Esso haven't got any Super either.

Our RB5 is mapped for V power, so I'm pissed right off. In the meanwhile I'll turn the boast down (luckily I kept my Dawes device) and keep an eye on the Knocklink and AFM. It's going to take me a few hours to explain the lights on the AFM and knocklink light to my misses. Oh well looks like it's normal Shell unleaded and octane boaster.

Group buy on octane boaster anyone?

Phill

FTW.

Am using Tesco 99. A) Because it is cheaper up here.
B)It says "99" on the pump
C)The "v" Power is for me MR2 Tubby.

Cheesy Wotsits. Who'd 'ave believed Different fuels for different cars from different garages?

I lived in Grangemouth for 30 yrs. You get all manner of tankers up and down the roads. Just like you will get all types tankers at whatever garage.

My Father used to be a tanker driver for Shell. He used to pick up at Grangemouth.

Interesting Fact: Sometimes his tanker was carrying "Liquid Choclate". Absolutely true. I used to eat the stuff when I was young.
