there was a similar thread a while back that i asked this question.

Why does white smoke signify blown turbo? Surely its blue smoke?

Take it out and clean it with electic contact cleaner (halfrauds sells it) put it back in and see if its better. Not sure on subarus if its worth risking??? But unplug it while idleing, if nothing happens then the maf is dead, if the engine gets worse struggles to idle more or runs even rougher then the maf wont be the problem.

Not nice. Its not that i dont believe people, was just intrigued as to the cause of the white smoke? Whats burning, evaporating ect when a turbo dies?

Check the turbo as suggested already AND the Idle Control valve and MAF sensor.

Sounds to me like you bought contaminated fuel ? ... Has this started after a recent fill ?

i did a sprint day a few months back and after a few fast corners and a bit of stick. mine started to smoke like this everyone said head gaskets blown, but it went back to good old thwaites at warwick who knew exactly what is was, turned out it just needed an oil catch tank as oil couldnt get back quick enough,, seems like it was white smoke but if you look closley you could see a tinge of blue in it and smell it too
