Default 220bhp and 280bhp version

Hello all,

I know nothing about Subaru's but I want one in the near future! what are the differences between these two models and is the mpg a lot different or does it depend how you drive it?

I'm working freelance so I'll only be driving to the gym a few times a week and for fun at weekends etc!

Cheers

Mike

Can of worms. UK or Japanese Import?

UK cars where low power (125 NA and 210/215 Turbo) until PPP and the P1 came along with 276BHP.

Jap Imports started at 240 BHP and progressed until the final throws the S201 was 300BHP.

Newage cars are an even bigger bag of worms and they have oodles of sizes and power.

I see, the 240bhp version sounds good to me, what would you search for to find one of those?

Cheers

It depends what sort of year your looking at..... Examples below

MY93/94 JDM WRX saloon 240ps
MY93/94 JDM WRX wagon 220ps
MY94-96 UK Turbo (wagon and saloon) 210ps
MY95-96 JDM WRX saloon 260ps
MY95-96 JDM WRX wagon 220ps
MY94 JDM STI 250ps
MY96 JDM STI 275ps
MY97-98 UK Turbo 210ps
MY99-00 UK Turbo 218ps
MY97-00 WRX saloon 280ps
MY97-00 JDM STI 280ps
MY01-02 JDM STI 280ps
MY02 S202 JDM Special edition 320ps
MY01-02 UK WRX 218ps
MY03-05 UK WRX 225ps
MY02-05 UK STI 265ps
MY03-05 JDM STI quoted 280ps

So just a few examples, PPP for UK cars was available from around about 1995 and pushed power to 240bhp, not all special editions noted etc, but as said, can of worms due to so many different models and power levels.

thats what i did.started with 208bhp and with full hks system, headers and up-pipe,induction kit, walbro pump and newage wrx intercooler got 260.1 which is spot on.
plus mine 3 insurance groups lower than an import so more dosh to spend on goodies.

Japanese cars come with stronger internals, gearboxes and more toys.

They are more powerful to start with too but insurance is not more expensive most of the time depending on age.

Nice, I go to a lot of dog shows with my bull terrier so the wagon would be more practical!

Agree with all apart from the seats not matching the door cards. They do match - the door cards dont have the god awful tiger stripe red bits that the seats do on the early cars, so that interior is the original for that car.

I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole though. Its been "modded" on the seriously cheap, so you can guess what the servicing has been like.
