Why on earth do people feel the need to buy these stupid and unnecessarily large exhausts

And then have to put a bung in them because they are too ******* loud

Simple, it's my car so it is set up how I like it, however - if the wifes car goes into the garage or is off the road for whatever reason the bung goes in to make it more family friendly when the wife is driving it.

My bung spends most of the year in the garage - goes in primarily for the MOT just as a peace of mind thing

I had no choice to put one in for about 10 minutes.. Just to pass the police check they stopped me for noise pollution and requested me to change the system..

It certainly dropped in performance on the way to/from the police station..

I see, so were they with VOSA or can the police carry out their own tests?

Assume the bung will affect performance, as it did on my old Integra, as you get better gains on turbo cars with a free flow than you do n/a, I'd expect the bung to kill even more performance.

How do you stick the noise?

I remember when I got my first Subaru (MY98 turbo 2000) and putting a bigger exhaust on it (we'll the dealer did should I say)

I drove it one day to Dublin (approx 100 miles each way)

The following day I took it back to the dealer and said to put the original system back on again and get me something better.

The constant drone was the most annoying thing ever
