Buying a Scooby but which model!!!
Hi all,
I have a dilema and am hoping you can help, I've finally worn the wife down and she has agreed to let me have whatever car i want, I've looked at various makes and models but have currently got myself settled on a scooby, but which one?
I've given myself a max budget of 15k and have searched through lots of websites and my 12 year old pile of car mags going through feature upon feature and would be interested in opinions on the following models:
Blob eye type 25
Blob eye spec C
Blob eye 05 model STI PPP
Hawk eye STI PPP
WR1
Ideally any of the above in white with gold wheels (execpt the WR1 of course), the car will be used daily, will ferry a couple of small dogs and thanks to work expenses fuel isn't too big a worry.
Also, a bit left field but we went and had a look at the new Focus RS which amazingly the wife really likes and i think i could easily convince her we should get but am i crazy for still having a preference for one of the above? as much as i like the RS they seem so much money and can't help but think I'd rather have an older but quicker scooby and an extra 10/12k in my pocket.
Dean.

Hawkeye STi is the best road car from that list IMO. Also, and this is totally subjective, the best looking. The Type 25 and Spec C are both weapons but not sure if you'd want to do the miles in either, especially the latter.

Spec C out of choice, purely because you could afford a really tidy one at that money. I'd be off to look at Scooby-tc's if I had the money.

Has this Scooby-tc employed an army of people to try and sell his car or something?
Lovely car, but reading the OPs requirements I'm not sure a Spec C is the car for him.

WR1 wasnt in white (ice blue if you like it), cross that one off your list because the standard jdm's were better.

As much as i love the sound of the spec c having read through a few more articles today i think in reality, as mentioned above, it might not be the right car for me.
There are a couple of type 25s on pistonheads for around 12k which seems a heck of a lot of car for the money! 0-100 in 10.6 is mighty impressive and i do love the look of the hawk eye PPP but there don't seem to be any around in white which is irritating.
Thanks for the replys so far.

Hawkeyes in white are very rare and tend to sell for between £15-16k even in the current market. There was one up a few weeks back - mint, low miler and I think he was asking £16-17k. Wasn't for sale for long.

mine is 1 of 5 (maybe 4) white 2005 Type UK sti's in the UK and i don't think there were more than a couple dozen white special orders brought in over the whole newage range.
it's the colour to have but it's hard to find

Nice looking Impreza there .... is it being sold by the original owner or a trader?
If it's a trader then I suspect it HAS been driven faster than 80 MPH! Also, if it's a trader then how does he know for sure it hasn't been over 80 MPH? If it's the original owner selling then he/she can make that statement as it's difficult to prove otherwise. - Just a really pointless comment to make and ruins a decent listing .... I'm very mature in an Impreza Turbo, I'm sure that (rarely) I have been over 80!
With 8000 miles on the clock it is too good to be an everyday car - fanatstic as a Sunday drive .... wasted if used as normal.
Buy it now at £14,000 ..... not a great deal of money for what you get, I suppose?

Bloke said he is selling it for a friend but no idea if he himself is actually a trader.

Interesting and confusing sale in my opinion ...... "I will get it Serviced he says" - yet it's not his/her car?
Been on the market for over a month ... is it overpriced?
Could be genuine - but, in my many years I have seen 'Traders' coming to buy cars off me 'For their Niece/friend/mother' when of course they are buying to sell on .... and plenty of traders selling 'For a Friend/relative/nephew' .................. like the true owner is unable to sell for themselves?

Just take it for what it is, get it checked over, hpi etc and at that money you could run it for a couple of years and then sell on without to much of a loss.
If I didn't have my Gb270 and was looking I'd be buying it, looks superb.

mind you that one on ebay looks a proper mint car. silly low mileage, i thought mine was pretty low
if that ticks your boxes dean to what you're looking for, you won't find another like that. that is super fooking rare.
not worth £14k, but easily another 1k on top of the current bid.
