Has anyone thought of removing the prop shaft of there scooby to give you a front wheel drive only car and could it be done?.
Would you end up with a faster car that doesn't handle as good but is better on mpg and quicker 0 - 60 time?

RWD yes, but FWD?..... FWD is only there because it's cheaper to manufacture than RWD which is cheaper than 4wd.
Yes but if you removed the propshaft the engine would only drive the front wheels and it wouldn't cost any money.
Has anybody tried it? I done it on a Honda CRV for a while because the propshaft needed new bearings and it seemed no different
the main reason i bought a scooby in the first place isbecause it was 4 wheel drive.so i dont think i will be wanting to convert mine to front wheel drive anytime soon

When one of my front drive shafts came out all that happened was the car would rev like mad and not go anywhere..
Mine felt like a super aggressive clutch slip, before it started sending power to the rear i could get it going eventually but had to be pretty carefull about stopping on any hills and such, to be honest it was a horrible drive home as the roads were covered in thick snow, and a 3wheel drive scooby drives like utter dogs **** in these circumstances
My car seamed a lot more 50/50 split then my mates uk car, which probably helped matters.
It could be done, there is a kit you can buy that kit car makers use when mounting these engines and boxes in the rear. It basically locks all the drive to, in your case, the front wheels. Remove shaft, job done FWD!! Don't know how long you gearbox, shafts and front tyres would last though
There was a video of a bloke on Youtube from New Zealand who converted his STi to RWD. Can't find it now but he never lasted long before he stacked it into a Lamp post
I am not doing anything with mine but I just wanted to know if it could be done.
Thanks for all the replies and I agree it probably would be cr*p just like an RS or VXR
