car is rude as ****
doesnt look good for subaru though does it they have pulled out of wrc, all the privateer scoobs block etc are going to ford. it went wrong for motorsport when they developed this hatch back design
they should never have changed the layout. it wasnt broken so why try and fix it, what will become of subaru in motorsport
?

I love the Fiesta in its rallycross guise and thats pretty much what Block is driving in the US (though toned down a bit to meet RA regulations).
Sadly his first outing in the car hasn't gone well - he's dropped out on the first day of Sno*Drift 2010 with a suspension problem, so Pastrana took the win in a Scoob!
Hope the car is competitive in Rally America this year, be nice to see the series get a bit more interesting.

Sorry for the double post, but I just saw this...
...the Fiesta is the car he will be driving in Rally America and at X-Games this year.
Block will use an M-Sport prepared Focus RS for all his appearances in the WRC this year.

Funny you say that, I actually read this afternoon that the US Sno*Drift rally does not permit teams to use studded tires; Rally America rules require cars to be street legal and studs are not allowed in the part of Michigan where the rally is held, so the cars have to run on street legal tyres!
(I assume they use something treaded?!)

Tyres such as Yokohama A034 and the Pirelli 'skinny snow' (135mm wide) for fresh, powdered snow. Various types of Blizzack tyre for broken up ice with small amounts of powder. And then Nokian ice tyres for sheet ice that has frozen over and over again (and believe me, you cant even stand up on it)
Then you can also do whats called 'tractionize' the tyre. Basically run them on a set of rollers with hundreds of 2-5mm metal spikes that dig into the tyre and rough up the surface. The tyre then flexes and moulds to the icy road surface much more easily, trying to create as big a contact patch as possible.
When you are on the right winter tyre the grip is unbelievable. Getting up to the top of 6th gear at 110+ is easy in an open class car, stopping it again however, is not so easy. When your on the wrong the wrong winter tyre, the lack of grip is unbelieveble....
Yes, all the above tyres are street legal, very cheap (relative to proper gravel tyres) but with relatively weak side walls as they are road tyres. And after a mile or so of gravel, they are all but destroyed.....
