My mate in college with me recently wrote off his 1.0 3 cylinder corsa, he was paying 1900 a year insurance on it!! because he is 17 and from the south wales valleys. His insurance company are paying him 800 quid for his car which he thought was good untill they told him he had a 750 quid excess ! He did go through with it though and got his 50 quid

 

Surely he shouldn't have claimed at all ........ that claim is going to cost him MUCH more than £50 over the coming years!

 

Remind me not to go with his insurance company lol

 

It was his fault, he hit another vehicle

I crashed twice when I was 17 (both my fault). Taught me how expensive it costs in insurance premiums and repairs. Learn my lesson the hard way too.

most of the ins co's put min of 750 excess if under 21 nowdays, my daughter is 19 and still a nightmare getting the costs down

 

Luckily nobody else has been involved and the other time was me dicking about in the snow on private land !
