Default 2001 Bugeye WRX advice.

I've got a 2001 Bugeye WRX with an Afterburner cat-back exhaust and k+n panel filter. If i now add an afterburner front pipe to replace the cat will it still get through the mot with emissions and does it bolt straight on, what about the lambda sensor ? I'm a bit confused !
Would a re-map be next and what sort of results should i expect ?
I know next on my list should be brakes but with redstuff pads i find them ok, i only drive it on the road.

I'm not sure a replacement up-pipe would be a top priority, the pre-cat doesn't sap much power and most people only replace them at high BHP to avoid break up and bits of cat going through the turbo.

I'd go for the re-map for 250-260 odd BHP toe get the best out of your TD04 turbo

find yourself a friendly mot tester and then go fully decat and get it mapped.

if you mean the decat down pipe then yes it will fail an mot test. the lambda sensor will plug into your new downpipe. As mentioned find a friendly garage or put cat back on for mot, only a couple of hours work once a year. And yes if you fit the decat downpipe it is advised to get a remap for engine safety and to release the extra power

As has been said.. it won't pass an mot with only the cat before the turbo which the wrx has.. so you would need to refit either the downpipe cat (pain to do every year) or the centre cat.. it should just squeeze through then.. or you could get a sportscat but they need to be very hot in order to pass mot.

Remap would see you 270~280bhp

AH........by "front pipe" I guess the OP means "Downpipe"

Thanks for your replies i think i mean the centre cat, leaving the up and down cats in place (bloody confusing having 3 cats !).

The "cat" that sits under the driver in the centre of the main exhaust is not a cat. It's a resonator and only effects the sound and to a lesser extent the flow of exhaust gases.

Going by the diagram on Midlifes reply, the one i want to get rid of is the mid pipe and rear cat.So my question about will it pass the mot with this removed is probably yes.What about the lambda sensor will it cause a problem and do i have to buy a matching Afterburner pipe or could i fit a Scorpion one which is cheaper ?

Well then

i have had 2 wrx models, one a x reg and the one i have now a 52 plate. Both have had full decats including up pipes and they still pass the emmissions test.

So i would have thought you have no worries at all .

I would like to see the print outs for this! Sorry but i am struggling to see how it could pass with no cats in place at all. They are there for a reason and removing all of them would result in a fail.
But, if u have the emissions print out............................

A bugeye with a full decat will not pass a genuine MOT test for emissions. Even Sport cats need to be red hot to work well enough to pass an emissions test.

In answer to dalmations question, removing the downpipe and rear cat (the two main cats) will give rise to an MOT fail. There are some MOT stations that (allegedly) stick the sensor up the nearest "clean" exhaust pipe to record emissions.......
