How about a joint RS/Scooby track/airfield day to 'settle our differences' and maybe get to know each other a bit better. hopefully this will appeal to the 'serious drivers' and real car owners and not to the 'muppets'(no offence Blowdog et al) out there so may well sort the men from the boyz and you never know it might be damn good fun!

Your thoughts gentlemen (and ladies)

Paul

Any time after 01.03.01.

Good idea!
Also how about a day at Brunters
You know the kind of stuff the Scooby Boys are scared of like 0-60,0-100 1/4 Mile and the dreaded Top Speed Test

But Buffy, thats all straight line stuff.

Its just D.U.L.L

Lets have some timed laps (if you really want the competition) on a decent circuit - with straights AND some twisty bits?

Right then Turkey Gobblers!!!

I'll post on the RS Board!!!

I'm willing to sort out the RS'ers end, if somebody sorts the Scooby lot.

Any ideas on where (track that is or Brunters)??? Can Stef or SDB assist in this area.

I can probably get a Mag cover from FAST CAR!!!

Shaun.

Buffy - When you drive a car in the real world you don't just blast in a straight line do you?

Maybe you do if you're scared of corners

Shaun - This needs to be done!

Reckon I could be persuaded

Biffo,

Magazines us 0-60 etc to impress no brainers,
rather than see what cars are really capable of round a track.

Wonder what you believe. But then you believe TVRs performance figures too, ROFLMAO.

Most track events are organised with the very strict proviso that no timing or racing takes place, so it would be very difficult to prove very much, without breaking at least one of these rules.

However, taking the concept a bit further, you would need to have a good proportion of standard and modified cars to similar specs to make any comparison worthwhile. Otherwsie you could get the situation where X says "I passed 15 Y cars during the day, and not one passed me", and vice-versa, simply because there were different classes of cars, or they were out on the track at different times.

To make things fair for all, I think a neutral venue would be required. Some people have simply far too much experience of Donington

Perhaps a better suggestion would be a timed event, like a sprint stage. Here both power and handling are tested to the full (against the clock), and only one car at a time. I think there are dozens of sprint/hillclib venues around the country which could be used for this sort of event, and at a much lower cost than hiring a full track. Obviously taking part in any sort of timed event invalidates any warranty that you might have on your car, so I would expect only UK Imprezas over 3 years old, or over 60k miles to be willing to take part, or those with imported models. As only one car is out on the track at a time, everyone else would be together in the paddock, and would give a better opportunity for people to get to know each other.

Dingy - When you say 'Its kick *** time' do you realise ity will be our boots and your AR$E !

Great stuff, this looks more like it - lets take it to the track and GET IT ON !

Good idea John

Earth Calling Stef!!!!!!

Anyone got any suggestions as to where we can do this? how about a model class as in Escort Cossie Monte Carlo against a 22B? etc etc and I don't mean Monte's 550BHP Monster

Some suggest a venue where we can do this?

Gents/Ladies,

My friend works at the milbrook test track (owned by GM) I believe( I'll have to find this out) that it can be rented on the 3rd weekend of every month, I have no idea how much it is, but I would think its pretty expensive.....I'll find out and probably cause heart attacks with the fee..

Sorry peeps, been busy.
John is dead right, no circuit is going to be overly keen to allow foaming-at-the-mouth Scoob and Cossie owners on a track for the sole intention of seeing who the quickest is.
The idea of a timed stage is very appealing though.
The only other alternative is for everyone to monopolise a forthcoming event at a track and 'sensibly' sort something out. Playing cat and mouse for example is a good way of finding out who's quicker without actually racing or timing. The only other alternative is to use an airfield, but I doubt Brunters would like the idea either.
There is the upcoming event at Three Sisters involving Scoobs, Cossies and Sunnies, but it's hardly the best place for them.
I suggest everyone comes to The Ring at Easter. That would sort out the men from the boys.

Stef.

Oh, and we arranged a similar event back in July last year to 'settle our differences'.
This was predominantly straight line stuff, but I believe the Cossies still got annhialated, what's changed since?
