As much as I love them and they are far more practical (if that's what you need) I've a nasty feeling that Impreza's have had there day.
For that kind of money, I would be looking through the Mitsubishi dealers window for a deal on an EVO X Failing that, the 370Z looks good, but then again, so does the Focus RS!

A test drive in both is the only real way to decide.

The Z is ok if you cut hair for a living.

Subaru have had their day? - you are welcome to your opinion but they are still the best value performance car out there.

Now more economical, more grip, better residuals for well kept examples with low miles (due to lower numbers; rare), better interior(no rattles), looks better, they go like a train 0-60 in 4.7 secs 30-70 in 4.4 secs, 0-100 in 12.3 secs ; rapid beast
Old diehards always say the old ones are better, just as Cossie owners are upset with Focus RS comments. Have you owned a hatchback STi or 330s?

The 370Z is a cracking car, but watch the rear wheel drive. If you're a talented driver its great, for average Joe watch those hedges. Quite boomy noise from what I remember of the test drive, well made interior.

There are some really good deals about at the moment on Subaru and Mitsu Evo.

The Scooby 330s is a mega fast car: miles faster than a 370z than many other cars.

The Scooby Sti is faster than the FQ300, so you need to compare an
EV0 FQ330 (yes I have driven both).

Shop around and you can the Subaru STi for 24k; either new or pre-reg with delivery mileage. You may be able to get a FQ 300 for 27k but a 330 (free upgrade offer from the FQ300) you’re looking at 30-32k

The Focus RS is very nice but prices start at 27k and run to >29k, the car has rarity factor so expect to pay top price if you really want one.

If you’re worried about residuals the EVO is best.

I don't disagree that they are good value for what they are and have to admit, I've never driven one, but then again I'd never driven a Subaru at all until the day I picked up my first new Impreza back in '99. I just feel that the aura that surrouned The Impreza is not what it was (when my missus first saw the new Impreza she thought it was a Kia ) There's nothing about the new Impreza that makes me shake the piggy bank to see if I can stretch to one more new car before I finally pop off!
Currently, I drive an STi which I bought new in '03 I've spent thousands on it. (still spending!) It's fast and naughty and I still love it. I'm still a big, big fan of Subaru after 10 1/2 years of owning them but given the money, brand loyalty for the sake of it would be a thing of the past.

Cool

I regulary drive the 350 Z (part of my fleet) and is is in my opinion too fast and brutal and not as well balanced as my classic or new shape hatch the 370z is similar but rear whwwl drive in the wet?

tyres last a few thousand miles if your lucky and impractical and had to live with day to day but good value at 30k ish compared to boxster if thats your thing
STi and get it remapped is what you want and of course all 4 wheels turn when you go round corners and you dont worry about breaking for the bends and parking it up when it rains ""

A 2004 911 carrera 4s or a 2006 360 fq mr !
My Choice!

Subaru loyalty, what about a tribeca auto!

The STi 330s deserves a chance!

I'd go for a jap spec MY08 sti if it has to be a hatch otherwsie i'd go for a hawkeye spec c. The jap cars have the more refined and powerful 2.0l jap spec engine.

Just after getting the RB, I was following a 350z round a rain soaked car park.
A couple of times when he stepped on the accelerator, his 4rse end nearly overtook him.
Didn't look stable or balanced at all!

Sounded good though!

My last car was a 350Z and my current car is a 06 Impreza STi. The Impreza is more practical and much faster. The 350Z was a head turner in its time (2004-6 is when I owned mine) and are far more fun to drive. The 350Z was without doubt a better GT car and the Impreza a very quick point to point car.

Test drive both and consider how you use it. If you do a lot of motorway miles then the Nissan would be my choice.

350Z and 370Z are like two different cars according my my friend who has owned both (370Z being much better).

I'm with Thompl33 though.... 2004 C4S

The 370Z does look immense but if it were my cash I'd go for the Porsche too. A well specced version will hold it's value better than anything new and a porker specialist will see you through the bad times (if there are any) without losing too much pocket.
