Default Help required ! Fitting Centre Decat Pipe

Hi all, I recently recieved my decat centre section for my 03 WRX. Ive been told that the fitting of this pipe is simple. But how simple ? I'm assuming liberal use of the WD40 on all the bolts 24 hours prior to fitting would be a good start. But what about the lambda sensor, how simple is the removal of this, would it be a good idea to have a spare just in case it snaps. How much are they ? Also what about gaskets and sealant etc, can I just re use the existing gaskets if there are any, do I need some exhaust sealer ? Im planning on doing this on Sunday morning this weekend, so I want to be prepared. Or should I just take it along to a local garage for them to do it ?

As always thanks alot for any help.

Your rear lambda sensor won't snap because they are pretty hard. Soak it with some penetrant, wait an hour or two then while the exhaust is cold heat up the bung the sensor screws into and that should crack off anything binding the sensor thread to the bung. I recommend a big adjustable spanner clamped as tight as you can on the hexagon of the sensor and it should come off no probs.

When replacing it you don't have to do it up super tight. Just pop some copper grease on the sensor thread and do it up just right. Just make sure you have some new gaskets to go with your centre pipe.

Generally available from any garages like Kwik-Fit, anywhere that fits exhausts will have spare gaskets. They're not expensive but when you remove the old ones they will just crumble so you will need to replace. I got mine from Fensport for my Blitz exhaust as its local.

Just fit the gasket and some firegum and job done. Won't need much firegum.

Holts Firegum 150g from Halfords Price £3.99

If you have a local exhaust centre take it there and ask nicely if they can fit it for cash That's what I did with my back box , gave the guy a tenner....Both parties happy

Actually, thats a genius idea. I have a fitters near where I work, I'll just leave it with them and ask them to pop it on sometime during the day. Im sure they woudlnt want a lot. Good idea lads.
