Default Should I worry about rust around the Windscreen?

Hello,

Looking to buy a Classic Subaru Impreza Wagon (1999-2001), but the ones I've seen have got rust around the windscreen. Some worth than others.

Is this a common problem?

Is this just caused by a carelessly fitted new windscreen?

Is the rust just likely to be cosmetic? Is it simple enough to fix?

Cheers.

No car is rust proof, some are more resistant than others.

They are pretty good on the whole, the advent of pressure washers forcing water between presses hasn't helped. Common areas are the glass areas normally due to poor repair or worn seals. Similarly where mud flaps are removed by kerbs you can compromise the rear arch press and water gets in. Earlier cars had no arch rubbers either Many imports come to the UK without proper undersealing, not that this affects the roof.

Worst car I ever had for rot was a Lancia Delta Turbo, not far off plunk plunk fizz fizz as it drove through puddles!

And Lancia said they had sorted out their rot problems after the Beta debacle........ HA.
