Default BC Coilovers how comfortable ?

I might be forced into buying a set of these as I can not seem to find a replacement rear shock for my 2006 Sti spec D with out paying silly money at a dealers Do you think with the correct springs (soft) that the ride will still be comfortable? To be honest I don't think that the ride quality is that good anyway It seems to me that the 2006 sti is very harsh compared to the earlier models

it will only get harder with coilovers, and coilovers are quite a hardcaore solution if just for road use. If tracking or racing then make sure you get ones with adjustable dampers so you can soften the rebound for the road and then tighten up for the track. Saying that i've never experienced BC's so i cannot comment

I have BC coilovers on mine and the ride is comfortable, its like having standard suspension but way better handling. I went for a 5/4 spring rate which is fine for road use, i think its 6/5 spring rate for newage

Im not very clever when it comes to suspension (still learning) what's 5/4 and 6/5 I take its something to do with the spring rating ? Have you guy's got Hawkeye's ?

Thats the spring rate, I dont have a hawkeye, but i think thats the lowest spring rate 6/5 you can get for newage onwards for something comfortable, send bren@apex a pm he will tell you more

I have a classic shape fitted with Eibach coilovers which are only height adjustable (not stiffness adjustable) and i think they are great on the road. They are compliant on bumps and unjulations, but stiffen progressively when cornering harder. I know its not a hawkeye shape but i just thought you would like an opinion on another set of coilovers available by someone who has used them long term.

Although not dealers we have fitted various BC coilovers, and as fair as most coilovers go these seem pretty well suited to road conditions more so than most. Comfort if not far of that of aftermarket springs when set up correct. The preset spring rate they come with works well for road, price wise they are cheap in comparison to Teins etc, but you get what you pay for at the end of the day. Within this price range they are a good option.

My BC's are great on the road, I've got the 6/5s on my Newage with the damping set to 10 all round.

Im just about to have BC Racing coilovers fitted, i have a lot of those damn speed bumps around our area and wondered if anyone has set the dampening level to cope with this type of road use, ive been recommended to have them set at 5 from soft, but also see some run at 10 all round, any helpful advice welcomed

Certainly more comfortable than OEM springs and dampers if you want them to be. Or ramp up the damping and shake your teeth out. I'm on 5/4s and 18 clicks front and 15 rear.

I love mine on my classic.....or I'll love them again when I get it back

I THINK 5/4 relates to spring rate: 5kgf gives 4mm compression? Someone correct me if I got it the wrong way round.
