Default Spoiler removed for anonymity ?

Since buying my blob eye sti i've allways thought it to be a big car, visually. Out on the road from the rear the car sticks out amongst other bland cars like a sore co*K, and i'm convinced that rear spoiler has allready cost me 3 points from an unmarked car on a road i use every day in my van with no bother at the same dismal speed , i know a lot of guys remove the rear spoiler for looks but has anyone actually removed theres for this anonymity reason alone? . I'm off out to remove mine once i've managed to get to grips with the search engine , I no there bolted but are they glued as well?

If its a genuine STi car and the spoiler hasnt been aded on after, and is genuine, then it would be bolted on with about 17 or 20 bolts across the bootlid.

If you're removing it then you would need to have the holes filled over and sprayed.

yeh like shaggy doo said Subaru got trigger happy with the bolt gun on the sti spoilers... you have it filled and resprayed, but tbf mate your better off taking the boot lid off, sticking it in the attic and buying a wrx boot lid and doing whatever u want to it then (the standard newage wrx bootlid has only 4 bolt holes...) plus if you have the original, it will be nice to put it back on when you sell it.....if im tihnking of modifying my scoob, i dont do anything (if i can help it!) that cannot be easily taken off / revereted...

theres loads of breakers around if you give um a call, its about 70 odd quid for a lid (plus postage...) theyre a doddle to fit mate

....ps.... where abouts in d'shire u live mate?

Yeah! is gonna be easier to buy another bootlid than fill in all those holes!!!
As it happens I have a Hawkeye with the WRX spoiler, I might be interested inna swop, as I'm after a STI spoiler.. P.s dont know if the Hawkeye/Blobeye bootlids are interchangeable

Yep, seen the million bolts, i guess i'll look for a second hand boot lid to get painted because the cars not that old and tottaly standard (apart from ppp) so i will indeed stick it in the shed until the time comes to sell and then re fit sorry guys that have pm me about the spoiler i never intended to sell it but take my word for it you will blend in a little better without a great big red flag to a bull (spoiler to a police car) stuck on the back

I did exactly this a couple of years back. Had the GB270 spoiler on originally and was sick of the wrong kind of attention.

I bought the A-line lip spoiler posted above and had the holes filled and the boot professionally resprayed. View my garage to see the car.

I'm happy with it and glad I did it. Hasn't negatively affected the handling at all and I now have a fast discreet car.

ive noticed a shift in spoiler taste recently on scoobs, there was a big rage in dump-valves not so long ago, now everyone calls um "chav horns"..... alot of ppl are starting to move away from the high level spoilers on scoobs nowadays... i personally didnt like my bootlid WRX spoiler, but i didnt want the sti8 spoiler - instead i got the prodrive spoiler found on the uk300, i really liked it - the lines went well and it wasnt "ott"....

I was also thinking about having my spoiler removed from my STi.

Quick question though, the 3rd brake light is on the spoiler right? Do you legally need a middle brake light?

No, but it is advisable to have one if possible. I got one of those ones that sit on the parcel shelf in the rear window free with the lip spoiler so fitted it to avoid trucks squashing me on the motorway

Your choice but you can pick them up cheaply enough if needs be.

Good advice from Mikkel - you should keep some sort of a spoiler tho im personally not a fan of spoiler-less scoobs, yeh yeh its a nice sleeper look... but come on..... how daft does the Evo look without a spoiler ey!

Sorry mate, no I don't have it any more. You can buy them directly from Prodrive but they are silly money I am afraid.

Discrete ! Who are you trying to kid !

I was chatting to AET-Ellie @ Scoobysprint and she wants an "ironing board" on the back of their car, so I offered to swap for their A-line fitted lid.

LOL

Bud i think its how bright the lights reflect off your bald heeeed thats drawing the law to get you. Just keep your woolly hat on.

Seriously tho bud, you have had some real bad luck lately. The small boot lip does suit the newage IMO.

Catch you soon bud

Something i keep debating. I guess the UK300 is a comprimise? A line looks great on crystal grey/silver but maybe not so good on WR Blue?

Not sure if it's a Jap thing, but I noticed that the Spec C RAR video on Edmunds.com has no spoiler at all; neither has my type 25.

I do get drivers racing up behind to see what's on the little badge; which is annoying; so if you despoiler, then that's not necessarily the end of it.

Any idea where to get a lip spoiler from?

I'm going for the stealth look once the FMIC's fitted, so I will be after either a bootlid complete with lip spoiler, or a lip spoiler and replacement boot lid - maybe from a sport?

So, yes, my STi spoiler (obsidian black) will be for sale at some point, or available for an exchange
