probably a td04

there are lots of different routes you could go
most people go for a vf34 or 35 , with a few other mods will see you into the 300's after a remap

Have you already modded this car or are you just thinking about it?
Personally (as with most people on here who understand these cars) you start with the brakes as the original ones (especially pre 99 models) suck (even the post 99 4 pots are not brill).

What year is the car? Early ones came with a TD05, which have been up to the 350bhp region. I'm running 335 on mine

Depending on how far you want to go with power, i'd get a AFP TD04, makes 300bhp without hardly any lag and makes a great point to point car

As above with other mods, brakes, exhaust and remap. Just remember whatever you put on, turbo, exhaust, air filter, will only give you little of the over potential untill you get it mapped.

So save your pennies and get it all done together, and your Scoob will feel like a completely different and better animal

I have a vauxhall astra H 1.9 CDTI and the 300mm brakes are better than the subaru 4 pots now considering I have had 2 classics, one from new (UK turbo and those brakes were not good with 215bhp let alone 300+ ) and the 2nd one had 27k on the clock (still have this one and it now has 29k on the clock), the first one had the brakes upgraded because (back in 2000) the Pug 306 GTI-6 I had prior to that had better stoppers (and they were 2 pots), the ones I replaced them with (Brembo 4 pots off a fiat turbo coupe with AP discs and mintex 1144 pads) was a vast improvement over the standard items my second scoob just had big brembo's out of the factory and this one has subaru 4 pots front and 2 pots rear, and they are getting changed out for AP 4 pots which are sitting in the house (and these subaru 4 pots have braided hoses also!)

For the price, I would seriously think of upgrading the brakes on a classic
Oh and all the brakes were bedded in correctly before you ask
