Have you already modded this car or are you just thinking about it?
Personally (as with most people on here who understand these cars) you start with the brakes as the original ones (especially pre 99 models) suck (even the post 99 4 pots are not brill).

Mine is running circa 380 and I have no worries about my brakes stopping me. Forgot to tsay I have mintex 1144 pads too

now considering I have had 2 classics, one from new (UK turbo and those brakes were not good with 215bhp let alone 300+
) and the 2nd one had 27k on the clock (still have this one and it now has 29k on the clock), the first one had the brakes upgraded because (back in 2000) the Pug 306 GTI-6 I had prior to that had better stoppers (and they were 2 pots), the ones I replaced them with (Brembo 4 pots off a fiat turbo coupe with AP discs and mintex 1144 pads) was a vast improvement over the standard items
my second scoob just had big brembo's out of the factory
and this one has subaru 4 pots front and 2 pots rear, and they are getting changed out for AP 4 pots which are sitting in the house
(and these subaru 4 pots have braided hoses also!)For the price, I would seriously think of upgrading the brakes on a classic

Oh and all the brakes were bedded in correctly before you ask

Tony
