Default Insignia problem

My dad purchased a 2009 1.8 petrol Vauxhall Insignia roughly two months ago, the car is just below 1,000 miles on the clock.

Yesterday we was driving back from Manchester to Leeds on the M62, it was around 5pm so typical we got stuck in traffic and started crawling along. Its then we started getting problems with the car, when pulling away in first and second the car started making a growling noise a bit like a bottom end going on an Impreza.

When getting home I idled the car (no noise), but when reving it up to 2,000 to 3,000rpm the engine began making a growling noise. All the belts seem tight and the noise goes once the car goes over 40mph. It does seem to only happen on hard acceleration and its worse when going up hill and the car does feel down on power.

Took the car back to the dealers today, typical they dont know but have kept the car. am I right in thinking this could be something to do with the cambelt?

I was thinking CamBelt or Tensioner ..... does it have a belt or chain?

let the dealer sort it as it could be anything , im sure they will do a diagnostics check plus other checks . there is no point in guessing what it could be if they have the car !

But, as said above ... it's under warranty, let the dealer worry about it
