Default AUTRONICS ECU need help

hi i am wanting to change my ecu from a autronics ecu to a standard one my impreza is a turbo 2000 1999 i have bought a ecu the same year. is changing it as easy as sawpping them straight over or not? does it need unlocking or anything? i am desperate for help. thanks

As long as the ecu wiring loom is as original and has not been modified then you will be "plug and play". The GC8 MY99-00 ecu doesn't need the car keys coding to it as the GDB/GDA ecu's do

As Bob says, the ECU should be plug and play, although it may well be MAP and not MAF based, so might need a wiring change at the sensor end. As an aside, it might be prudent to take a look at the spec of the car, just in case it's had injectors changed as well. Usually, if an after market system has been fitted, somebody's been at it!
