I went for 550's, 16g td05, 255l fp, and a 3 port , then a ecutex by jgm and made 331/329. your gear box is good for 400hp going by Andy f and thats what i'll be going for next
just get it done

There's a reason why both WRX engines and gearboxes aren't recommended to go over 330-350bhp/Torque...because they're not built for it.
An STi V7-V8 engine will take 500bhp+ at push and 400bhp+ all day long on std internals. A standard 2.5STi won't take even 400bhp all day long because they're not as strong as the 2.0L engines, although all 6spd STi gearboxes will take over 600ft/lb on std internals. Why?...because they are over engineered for it.
I'm putting 350/360 through my 5spd box and it's seriously creaking under the strain as are many other 5spds i know of making similar power/torque to mine. It's just a matter of time before it goes bang and i accept that but 400bhp is a bit over optimistic IMHO.
I know people with 5spd PPG internals in their boxes and they still go bang, which is why a fair few time attackers use std 6spd boxes with the first 5gears from a JDM STi box and a UK std 6th gear.
A 6spd is the way to go and is plenty strong enough for most of us.

Ok. We accept that 400bhp is a bit much for a 5 speed to handle, but back to the OP's more reasonable 300bhp....
If you decat the whole exhaust (or put in a sports cat for legality) and a good remap could see 280-290bhp.
To get to 300+, you need bigger injectors and a bigger turbo and an uprated fuel pump.

decat up-pipe (any off of a classic will do) and depending on where you live get Andrew Carr to open source map it, you will have over 300/300 and a nice drivable car to boot, job done
