I wish I could - I did it last year and it was amazing, Andy Walsh is a god. I learned lots and had loads of fun, although I did need a new set of front tyres after!

Bump for a great day out.

You are going to have the BEST time ever, the best handling mod you could spend your money on.

Thanks guys, all I have heard is great things about the day so thought it was about time I booked a day up. I have owned imprezas for 4 years but never managed to get out on a track day of some kind due to missing the day with issues with the car or ended up selling it.

To waste time on the day I'd really advise you to stop at the nearest petrol station to North Weald and pump your tyres up really high. Like 50psi. If you don't the sidewalls will flex and he'll send you off to go and do it, otherwise you run the risk of damaging your rims.

I second this advice. There's a Shell and BP garage by the A414/M11 roundabout and couple of miles away.

You'll have a great day, I did and found Andy to be a great intructor

I put 50psi in on Andy's advice - before I did that you could see how the tyres had rolled onto the sidewall. Front right tyre really takes a hammering - it's worth putting some older/worn tyres on the front at least.

It puts more stress on the tyres than a track day - you will spin a lot and act like more of a hooligan than you would on track, therefore pressures need to be a bit higher.

Oh, and go with a full tank - my friends Beemer was half full and suffered fuel starvation. I managed 11mpg on the day!

Yes, it does sound a hell of a lot but as the other poster said. You WILL spend a lot of time spinning.

Stop at the petrol station on your way in and stop on the way back to reduce the pressures and you'll be fine

ok then what can i say but yesterday i went to the carlimits course and i have nothing but praise to give, i can not fault anything about it and it was by far the best £200 i have ever spent on a car and is the best mod i could advise anyone to buy. i learnt more than i could of thought i would and i dont think the smile dropped of my face all day and even on the way home i was still grinning. not that they come on here but a public thanks to andy and the team at carlimits.com

Glad you enjoyed it

See what I mean about the tyre pressures

I agree that you learn so much mroe from one of these days that you would ever learn from a track day going round by yourself, £200 to spend on a mod - spend it on this you won't regret it

So what sort of stuff did they cover? Driving basics or was it more track focused?

Although having said that, I'm sure there's some crossover between the two.

To get maximum benefit you would need to do 2 or 3 and then do a track day with him instructing you.

From the first airfield day you spend the morning taking a fast left hand bend. At the start you feel like ahero taking it at 50mph and by the end of the day you will be taking it at 80-90mph.

You learn about steering, throttle and brake input, slip angles and fine tune what you thought you should do.

In the afternoon you take on a handling course, high speed and low speed turns, hairpins and some drifitng.

This is something I am definitely considering when I am next on leave.

Does anyone know of any other days like this that are a bit closer to Scotland?

I agree milamber I will be doing another day or two with andy. One day is not enough and as it is a progessive day by that I mean it's one step at a time and he adds little by little until you are comfortable in your ability then the game is raised.

I have a track day on the 1st of august to put some bits into practice then I will be back up to see them to learn some more.

Honestly I would suggest anyone to give the day a go, even if you consider yourself a capable driver I am sure you will still learn something
