It's Impreza not impretza or imopretza!!

Maybe your baseball cap is too tight and restricting blood flow to your brain??

To commemorate Colin McRae's success in the International Rally scene, Subaru released 200 off limited edition Series McRae Impreza's prepared by Prodrive. Finished in a very limited Rally Blue mica colour scheme with gold 6.5"x16" Speedline Safari alloy wheels, and special McRae decals. The interior was fitted out with Recaros front and the rear seats and side panels retrimmed in the same Le Mans/Avus material, special individual numbered badging and a factory fitted electric tilt/slide sunroof.

Basically a trimmed up UK MY 96.

I have No32

Rug Muncher.

Any chance of getting a name change? There is already someone called Rugmuncher on this board. I can see some confusion brewing!

Rug Muncher - I hope that you and Joey are gonna play nice from now on.

BTW 'Turbocharged Japanese Dog Shyte' is not going to win you too many freinds around here

please keep it clean

Rug,

If you do have a problem there is a spell check at the bottom of the page when you are typing your post.

Get your point across without bad language though or you'll find your post deleted.

i aint causing a fuss but my 2wd cossie beat it in straight line and seems to handle aswell. i aint causing an argument or slating scoobs just curious thats all.

what are they valued at now (especially this one being no.1)

Rug Muncher

IMHO
I did not think that Prodrive will just turn up the boost? - They do do PPP's Prodrive Performance Packs this includes tweaks to the engine, re-chipping it, different b/box suspension mods, brake mods and different wheels.

Try the SIDC FAQ as i suggested above. It has all the info.

Am i typing bollox again and should i get my coat...

Cool

You can't change your name. You can re-register with a new one though.

BTW I don't think that carpet-licker or punani-preener are taken...

The Prodrive Performance Pack was available to all Scoobs and was not fitted as standard to the Series McRea.

Lots of times quoted for the ppp most around 5 to 5.5 secs to 60 for the pre97 ppp cars. Prodrive managed to time a MY96 with ppp at 4.9.

Sometimes it can be difficult to launch the Scoob of the mark without being totally brutal with the clutch, if he nows how to use the 4x4 traction through the bends he should be pulling away from you.

Get yourself and your mate along to a track day and find out for yourself.

i would but my mate (yes it was my mate!!) coudnt drive it (20psi and wet road!) and stuffed it into a tree sideways. anyway putting it in a mk2 escort using group 4 parts. reccon he still has a chance?
when i drove mu mates scooby i will be honest i crucified it to the extent of shafting the pads (which were a swine to get from a supplyer) fair enough it handled and should`ve licked mine in the bends but i pulled away. shortly after i drove it the box blew up and concequently i got the blame. dunno why?

i love the boxer lump by the way.sound sexy.

Has anyone ever tried putting a boxer lump into an RS engine bay?

Nothing like a bit of 'love across the barricades' to bring two warring factions together...:-)

Might makes us realise that irrespective of whichever 'tin box' we drive, we're all road users and all drive on the same roads, with the same speed cameras, archaic laws, etc

damn this post was made a long time ago lol,

just found it, i got a book on the history of scoobys from day 1 and contained in it is info on the mcrae,

the special edition cost £28,300 (rrp) which was ten k more than the standard one at the time. Also note to get the same spec as the mcrae as mentioned above you needed to get the ppp pack fitted and some other options, but in total cost £800 less at £27,500 rrp. The differences were done by prodrive and included the following,

wheels, speedline 16'
interior, custom recaro mcrae edition seats, number plaque, cloth retrim
exterior, dark mica blue, sunroof, mcrae edition stickers
engine, (this is where people seemed to be unsure) additional 15% power claimed, so power boosted to 240bhp aprox, by, uprated engine management system (not sure what about it, just what it says in book guess a re-map) prodrive silencer and ramair filter.
Running gear, uprated springs, dampers and anti roll bars.

and thats your lot, hope this answers any questions.

o performance wise it supposidly knocker off 0.5 seconds off the 0-60.

The PPP had to be fitted after the cars was registered as it wont pass european emission regs for new cars but as a aftermarket pack there is no problem. You will see this with the RB5 as there was two version sold the rb5 and the rb5 wr sport. The wr sport being the version with the wing and PPP.

IIRC there was also a JDM Mcrae badged edition

all mcrae editions, the 1995 ones, were sent to prodrive and had the mods as listed above, as far as i'm aware there only ever was one mcrae edition, a production run of 200, numbered 1 to 201, there was no number 13 due to bad luck thing.

The mcare didn't have the ppp fitted as such, all the parts were on there but it was just considered to be the mcrae edition.

I have seen 2 with my own eyes. Roof scoop, RA gearing with DCCD, seats were the wingback type with a FIA laurel and McRae's signature woven into the drivers seat and Derek Ringers sig in the pax seat. It was also painted in Saltire Blue, the same shade as the Scottish flag. I even had the ECU out of one, which had been written off, in my car for a while. And no i am not confusing it with a V-Limited, which is a different shade and with NO signatures in the seat

When i bought my first WRX a couple of years ago there was one for sale in the garage where i was buying my WRX. The car i bought was £7500 for a K plate with 40000 niles on the clock, the Jap spec McRae was £13000 on a N plate with 55000 miles on it. It sold within a fortnight to a farmer in the Borders area for the full price.

i'll double check with prodrive cos i need to speak to em about some parts for mine. they may just be mod'd ones.

i'll keep you posted.

sounds a bit strange though, cos the name recognitian wouldn't be the same in japan with mcrae bieng scottish.

also having said that it can't be a standard car cos it would have broken the agreement with the the japanese goverment not to bring out a car with more than 280bhp. (which hasn't been broken untill the new shape one came out)

Quick Reply: colin mcrae edition impretza
