VF24 replacement options
The VF 24 on my MY98 STI is starting to sound a little sick and I'm looking to replace it. I rang up about replacing it with a brand new VF24 and was quoted £1300 + VAT
. I got quoted from Jap performance parts for a <50,000 mile unit @ £325 but I'm reluctant to go down this route as that one may not last long and I will have 2 turbo's which cant be rebuilt.
So (after all that) what alternatives do I have? The car already has FMIC, Decat and SIMTEK. I considered TD05-20G, 550cc injectors and Walbro fuel pump but was wondering if there are any cheaper alternatives (i've spent a bucket load of money in a small amount of time). Also I dont want to have to replace drive shafts and gearboxes as soon as the engine is sorted so I'm not going to go stupid with the power until I've saved some money to replace the parts I will inevitably break.

the cheapest option you have is either getting another used VF23/4 for about £120 or so. furthermore you could either dig abit deeper & go for a VF34 or the 35. the 34 is slightly better than the 35 as people will claim but nothing major. it all depends on what you want to achieve? my personal choice would be an 18G or the VF35.
