Default Me new Toy.

Hello, actually this is my second post but no one said hello lol. Any way, i've just bought a 55 plate sti ppp, wot can i say, wow, the scoob has replaced my tvr chimaera 5ltr, i had a little list of wot to buy after the tiv and the scoob was at the bottom , 1st car a little 911 (996) an early one around the 98-99 mark, the 2nd m3 (e46) convertible and last but not least the scoob (with ppp). I've owned the sti for just over a week and boy the thing has impressed me, it's cross country pace is devastatingly quick, it doest rattle or squeek and gives a fair old kick in the pants on full chat, all in all wot a car . I did have doubts about its image to be honest guy's and having just turned 40 i thought it might be a bit young for me but boy am i glad image doesn't count to much for me , any way, enough of my rambling and hears a few pics i took tonight. (If they work ).........

Mental age of a 10 year old man but I think working club doors since the age of 18 has made me feel really old lol. Cheers fella can't wait.

It's not all about the power m8, 1st u have to eliminate the understeer... , so some sensible suspension mods would be nice... Front lip would make it a bit more aggressive ...Oh well these r just my thoughts....

Anyway it's a nice car, good luck and welcome m8

I thought that about the understeer when I test drove the one I'm picking it up on Saturday. Mind you, I'm going from a car with a total suspension upgrade including Tein SS's. So, I'd completely agree with this comment and do this first.

Welcome & nice Scooby mate!

Isnt the Prodrive already 320bhp? If not a simple remap should see you at that figure & beyond.

Only other mods I would do are brake pads to e.g. Performance friction or Ferrodo DS2500 & eliminate understeer by changing rear ARB to a Whiteline 24mm adjustable one & keep it on soft setting. (or if you want more adjustability get front 22mm set to soft & rear 24mm set to medium)

Welcome aboard, I had the same choice between a 996 and a scoob when I bought my first one.
3 scoobs in the drive now.... I know I made the right choice

Get it remapped.

I've an 05 STI PPP, and Andy Forrest remapped it for me about 1.5 years ago.
Driveabiliy improved dramatically.
Difference between the PPP car and the remapped car is night and day.
I was left with 335-340 bph and similar levels of torque
The PPP cars in my opinion don't really get going until near 4K and run out of puff quite early and need gears.

The remapped car springs to life before 3K and doesn't run out of puff it just needs gears

Scrap that idea, you need at least 50bhp more.

Welcome to ScoobyNet...sorry I didn't say hello the first time!

Cheers for the kind welcome chaps, looking forward to getting out and about to a few meets this year with the car so may get to put the odd face to a name I'm going to do some reading up (through the search) on my options for a re map after the positive words about it from you guys, sounds worth it me thinks but after that thats it . As for the understeer i guess it depends how hard your pushing, i'm just learning the car at the mo but it does feel planted, i guess most 4wd cars will start to wash out on the limit but a little off throttle should tighten things up again, i allso guess tyres are a major factor to look into along with the stiffness of side wall . My cars running the ppp spring kit and to me feels more than fine at the mo but the odd track day and i should learn me more
