P1 paint job
#1
Grounded my spoiler recently (the front one, before you ask!), and got a moderate size (3 inch long, about 3/4 an inch wide) scratch on it. Phoned my friendly Subaru dealer and got a quote today to repaint it - over £400! Hate to think how the whole thing would have cost. No way I'm paying that obviously, but I wouldn't mind getting a decent respray just to protect it from rust. Anyone know a place I could get it done properly for a reasonable price?

You're not wrong!???!
Try Chips-Away in your yellow pages, they should be able to fix such a scratch for easily less than £100...

Well goes in for its 15K service on Monday, so I'll get them to check and estimate then!

Wow, you read my mind!
I've had a couple of light scrapes on my front spoiler over the last few months. I was thinking of getting it re-sprayed but thought better of it, bearing in mind, It's likely to get scratched again anyway.
My solution,
I went to Halfords and bought some of that FoliaTec carbon fibre look film. If you get the trim pack, you get 2 x 25" by 4" strips.
I cut the strips down to 40mm and stuck them around the front spoiler, so only 20mm shows.
I then carefully warmed it up with a hairdryer and it shrunk to the same shape as the spoiler.
Now it looks great - beleive me. The front spoiler now has a carbon fibre effect trim along the lines of the P1 rear spoiler theme.
If I scratch it again, I simply replace the damaged bit of carbon film.
Give it a go, for £20, you can't go wrong.

Scuffed my front spoiler on one of those French kerbs that moves all on its own in a hypermarket car-park. Took it to a local repair shop that is used by the local Audi dealer who repainted it for £70 cash. MY oo DBM.

The only problem I have now is where to use up all the left over carbon film...........
Mmmmmmmmmmmm, now let me see....
If anyone has some snazzy ideas, I'd like to hear. Please! nothing tacky though. I have no plans to be on the cover of Max Power

Sorry to go back to the original replies, but out of curiosity I asked my dealer about the P1 spoiler, and he says it IS plastic.
In fact, with the exception of the driving lamp lenses, the whole of the front is plastic. Although the lip appears to have been coated with something which is making repraying them a bit of a problem.
