Question Impreza Low-Fuel warning light

Hi all

I own a 98 Impreza 2.0 GL that my wife uses most of the time. She has loaned it to me and even by her standards it is low on fuel and the indicator light has started to flicker on. My question is.....How much fuel is left in the tank when the light comes on?

Cheers

Can only comment on a MY00 Turbo, has a 60L tank, used to be able to get around 50L into it when the light came on. So 10L remaining / enough for about 10 miles

10L is about 2 gallons (just under) if you can only get 10 miles out of 2 gallons you have a major fuelling issue once the fuel light is on you generaly have about 35-50 miles left at normal driving pace obviously less if you decide to boot it

Probably, but the needle does go all the way down, well past the 'E'!

It was a joke, hence the smiley at the end.

I know it should be possible to get another 40 odd miles but I wouldn't recommend it as you could end up with fuel starvation issues as the last bit slops around in the tank.

Single figure MPGs are possible in a Scoob though if you try hard enough

Well for one you did bloody well to run on fresh air for 3.94 litres and then overfill the tank by 3.94 litres.

Did your shoes get wet

When you hear the fuel pump make funny whining noises, you have about five miles before it starts to splutter (ignoring fuel surge etc).

just came here to say thanks for your comment.

With all the issues with my car, I’ve been trying to work out why my fuel gauge never works.

Then I thought, what about the low fuel warning light?

Now i know my classic does not have one, it’s one thing less to test.

So once again, thanks! 🙏🙏👍👍
