Exhaust Volume Conundrum
bonjour all...
right, a blitz nur spec S and a blitz nur spec R...
S - just the back box,
R - the back box and centre section......
the S is quieter than the R.. but im assuming because they measured it when linked up to a standard resonated centre section..
im running on a fully decatted and unresonated 2.5 inch system... reckon JUSt the back box mated to that would make that lovely blitz noise still?
the only difference i see in the centre section of the R is that its 3 inch... surely that wouldnt make more noise than a 2.5 inch thats unresonated? i mean surely the volume is all down to the back box design?
any help much appreciated. ultimately im looking for the loud rumble beauty of the nur spec R but dont really see the need for getting the centre section of it aswell if its only gonna be exactly the same as if i added it to what i have.

My understanding of the Nur Spec-S is that it's 3" pipework that resonates to 2.5" where the gasket is. Obviously the Nur Spec-R doesn't and carries on.
I would still expect the Spec-R with a resonator to be louder than a Spec-S without, as the pipework is a larger bore. The resonator on the centre section generally cuts out motorway drone, or so I was led to beleive when I had a Spec-R on my previous Scoob.
Both will be loud, but the Spec-R should be louder and more grumblier, as above due to the larger bore.

cheers for that mate,
obviously for reasons of price i was hoping the back box alone would suffice.
but then its because of that resonator on the blitz's centre section that i thought maybe it quietens it down to that of an unresonated 2.5 system.
everyone said the afterburner was too loud without the resonator on the centre, but thats what ive got now, AND full decat and its not loud at all really. unless ive got used to it.

i think i might go for it.
i might just get the spec S so just the 3 inch back box down to the 2.5 where it meets my unresonated centre.... surely being completely unresonated and decatted, even being 2.5 inch, the 3 inch of the back box will give me some of that lovely thump

For the price of a decent second hand Nur Spec-R, I'd personally go for that. Don't like mix 'n' matching a system up. Prefer to get a catback and mate it to a decat downpipe.

is yours classic?
ive got that other pipe, the other cat.... catted downpipe, catted middle, resonated centre, back box.
now im decat and no res's.
ive heard full 3inch gives crap torque low end... but or would that be FULL 3 inch and not just 3inch from the cat back.

^ Yes Indeed
Also the 3" centre will be deeper, although not necessarily louder, which may increase cabin drone. I have the NurSpec S with a H&S Sports Cat DP/second decat and 2.5 unresonated centre and it is officially the ****
Little vid reinstated just for you

aha, yours is like mine, must be all the newages have the same.
maybe it is just purely down to the back boxes design then.
i love how the blitz has that sort of thumping, my full 2.5 h&s with the afterburner back box is sweet sounding donw get me wrong. but i just wish it had more of a rumbling while i was in the plodding about rev's.......
only having noise in the raging revs means you drink petrol immensley.
you in essex? i'd love to hear that in the flesh.
also just noticed in your youtube vid you have a sport cat downpipe...im no cat...

Yes mate Essex Scooby Crew, few of us have the Spec S. Get yourself to a monthly meet, loads of noisy scoobs to sample.
I will post some new vids, Youtube muted a couple due to music sampling and someone on ebay robbed the other so I binned it.
Spec S fits tidy too, no bother with melting or knocking the diffuser on mine

H&S is a slightly different sound to the blitz, I had one on my previous blobeye. The blitz has a more racey edge to its note, and is quieter on tickover.
