Recently I have read that it is illegal to decat your exchaust if your car was made after 1986.
Apparently if you are caught in a road side check you can be fined and recieve points.

If anyone knows the exact legal issue with decatting your exchaust please let us know. I want to decat my car, but not if I could be fined and get extra points.

 

I thought it was after September 1992.

I think if you fail a road side test you are giving a 14 day fix it unless you are creating your own smoke screen, then they will pull the car away.
