Default sigma alarm beeping

hi, im getting this problem..

when i go to unlock my car the alarm beeps, so i need to quickly press it again.

when i go to lock my car the alarm starts beeping again. so i need to press the fob.

so i need to press the lock doors button inside the car to get the back doors locked (they have no keyhole) and manually lock the front door with the key.

does anyone have any ideas? cheers!

Hmm I'm not sure I understand!

You can set the alarm to beep when you lock and unlock the car. It's also a way for the alarm to tell you if you're car battery is getting low.

Does the central locking work using the key in the drivers door?

if its a constant beep, rather than just 2 beeps, then it means something is not shut properly. Be it one of the doors, the bonnet or boot. Check all of the sensors in these.

Perhaps Stu will allow Sigma-Sam back now?

normally when i lock/unlock it, there is no beep - just the lights flash so you know you done it properly.

possibly the boot/bonnet is ajar then. it is a constant beep.

The constant beep will then go into the full alarm sound, if it is like that, check all of the connecotrs, but more likely to be bonnet or boot rather than the doors.

i let it beep 5 times and it still didnt go into full alarm mode - it is horrendously loud, so i didnt let it go on. you can hear it miles away.

slamed all doors and boot/bonnet shut, still doing it.

if i use the fob to lock it, then i need to press it again to stop the beeping - however this means the back doors are unlocked.

i can get round it by pressing the open/lock buttons on the actual key itself, then mobilise it when im in. it imobilises after 30 seconds anyway.

olliecampbell - do you mean the fob is low on batteries or the car battery is low?

thanks.

What Model/Year is it?

If you have a remote fob AND a button on the key, then I'm guessing its a newage with an after market alarm. In which case, one of the remote is, or shoudl be useless. The beeping you get on the Subaru Sigma alarm when the door is ajar is not really loud.

its an 04 i think. blobeye spec c.

im talking about a piercing beep from the alarm. not the bong you get when the door is open with the key in the ignition.

i have a seperate sigma fob - and on the key itself, there are open and lock buttons.

usually i just press the fob which unlocks the doors and gives me 30 seconds to get in and start the car. more than 30 seconds and i need to press the fob again to deactivate the imobiliser again.

I thought that newage's had just a remote on the key, that worked with the immobiliser, but I don't know too much about them.
Isn't a Spec C an Import? If so, then I thought it wouldn't have the Sigma alarm at all.

spec c is a japanese car.

it didnt have electric windows, mirrors, central locking or AC. its a trackday car really.

i think an importer kitted it out with all the electrics again. (WR Ltd)

maybe it would resolve if i disconnected the car battery for a while?

as all the doors etc seem firmly shut. or maybe the fob needs a new battery

Just because it's an import doesn't mean it can't have a Sigma. Just depends on what the importer decides to fit.

Sometimes the Sigmas can be affected by radio signals from antennas nearby, they also have their own powersource inside the unit which could be faulty. Your best bet is to get it checked by someone who knows the system to get a proper diagnosis. Last thing you need is a faulty alarm which could unlock/de-immobilise the car leaving it open to tea leaves.

haha tea leaves.

i did notice it left the back doors open, so i had to press the 'lock doors' button next to the electric window button (inside the car) then shut the door and lock it with the lock button on the key (instead of the fob)

I didn't think a dealer would fit, what would now be an aftermarket alarm (if it wasn't fitted from the factory) and have two working fobs, the remote on the key and then the separate Sigma one. Like I say, I don't know too much about newages, but it seems pretty crap that you have to use two remotes. Surely the newage key, with the lock/unlock button can be programmed to work the alarm.

pressing the fob once unlocks the car and turns the imobiliser off.

but now i get this damn beeping, so i press unlock on the key then press the fob inside the car to get the imobiliser off.

its a lightweight car, wasnt supposed to come with all these comforts. dont think it even came with an imobiliser initially - so the lock/unlock buttons on the key would have sufficed.

Hi,

I meant the car battery not alarm fob battery

It sounds like an aftermarket fit. All I can find on t'interweb is this:

"No Category (CAT) 1 alarm, however it has a CAT 2 immobiliser. The CAT 1 part of the alarm is always fitted by the country importing the car - in the UK this is International Motors (IM). Most insurance companies require a ‘tracker’ monitor device on Impreza’s so this is extra weather importing or not."
