I've had mine since the buying the car new(Aug97). It's just an add on module that needs a feed from your alarm when its going off. The car arial gets connected into it and then a cable connects to the aerial for transmission. The range on mine on a flat road was around the 1 mile mark(aerial fully extended!). Obviously if it's a built up area or hilly, then range is reduced a lot. Anyway, not much point if the range was further as you aint gonna get to the car in time. Mine is a Clifford to fit the alarm, but i'm sure they're pretty much all the same.
I think they are illegal to use though. Something to do with the bands they use. Not 100% sure.
Mine has also got a facility to page the pager from inside the car manually. Never used it though.

the 'pager' that you carry round with you looks lik anyother PAGER!!! clip it to our keys, when your alarm goes off on your car, it sends out a signal to the 'pager' which then sounds a beeeeep to let you know your alarms going off!!! not sure on what range it works! don't know how they fit either! lol
but when you are in the house and your cars outside you don't always hear YOUR alarm, do you?
contact
craigamungos.......off the scoobynet/bbs
he fitted
logiclee's CAT 1 alarm last week + pager, and sorted me out with more alarm stuff as well.

I want to fit those flame throwers that you can buy and use in South Africa!!!
Connect them to the alarm and all you would have is a fried scum-bag hanging off your door handle!!

Had mine fitted yesterday, thanks Craig.
I've had some fun trying it out, was a little less than a mile away with the car parked in an open car park at work. Left my keys with a work mate and rang him to set the alarm off and I got paged. I've also tried it with while walking round inside a shopping complex with the car in the car park and it worked OK.
The new units do not use the cars aerial as there was always a problem with electric aerials being down etc. They use a small stick on pad on the windscreen.
It may seem like a gimmick but how many restaurants/shops/events do we go to where the car is out of ear shot but only a couple of minutes away. A bit more piece of mind for not a lot of money. Very Pleased.

John,
Craig runs Elite Vehicle Security and has installers across the country. I don't know the exact price as I did him a deal with some Millers but I think it will be a lot less than £100.

Phil,
Have a look along the top of your windscreen on the inside. It's about 5" long and 1.5" high and looks a little like a heated rear window element.

Hi Graig,
Was wondering what make of pager you install .
I had one installed a couple of years back by an authorised alarm place (so I would assumed it was fitted right!!), but it was crap!!!
regards
G.
