Default A big HELLO from a first time scooby owner! Anyone care to help with a few issues?

Hi,
On the 7th February ill be buying my first Scooby.
It’s an immaculate 1998 Impreza 2000 Turbo in Red and it’s only done 52,000
I’m not 100% sure of the security features (alarm, tracker etc...) but I don’t think it has as it is complete factory standard. I take it having these fitted will lower the insurance?
The bits I need the best advice on are;
· The best insurance company, so far my best quote is with Ecar insurance.
· Where are the best alarms meant to come from and what prices are we looking at?
Any help would be really appreciated as I want to get this right before next Saturday.
Cheers,
Henry

Henry, Welcome to scoobynet

you need to speak to gary moulson @ keith michaels, he is pretty much your best bet for insurance. his number is 0845 337 3380 (they are not open today) make sure you only speak to gary moulson as he is the only one that can get you the best price on an impreza.

the best alarms are either toad or clifford, and you will be looking at £120 upwards. however if its a 1998 I believe it will have a sigma alarm installed as standard, and I think they are meant to be ok.

HTH

In my past experiences insurance companies like tracker devices too. I got a very good quote from post office. Always check what cashback you can get through sites like quidco. Some insurance companies offer £100 casback which can make your quote very reasonable

Yes mention Scoobynet and be patient as regards to getting in touch with Gary.
It will be worth it.

trackers are a waste of time imho. KMinsurance dont require one anyway. would you really want your car back if it has been stolen and ragged to within an inch of its life? let them keep it.

The car should come with a factory cat 1 sigma alarm it may just be the my99 not sure. If it does not i got a clifford 650mk2 fitted from scooby clinic for £350, very happy with it too
