Default Quick question about JDM STI 8 Twin scroll

Hi..

Still looking for a STI..

The JDM STI 8 Twin scroll cars - Do they have a shorter 6th gear ratios ?

and if so does this make the MPG on the motorway worst then a UK ?

Cheers

Ian

Maybe I am getting confused with the older STI type R didn't they have shorter gearing ?

So the JDM would still do between 20-25 MPG ?

It`s definatly 6 speed. As far as i`m aware the JDM does have a slightly lower 6th than the UK, but not by much, motorway cruising is certainly much better than my old V5 Type R. Can`t compare to a UK car cus i`ve never had one. But my car since remap will do 25mpg+ on a steady motorway run.

Yes to both. I think the RA had even shorter gearing, but i'm not that clued up on the classics.

No such thing as an STI version 8 to start with (and if there were it wouldnt be twin scroll )
So what year are you talking about? versions stopped at 6.
As for the gear question, yes they have a shorter 5th and 6th gear over a uk car.

As Tony says.... the JDM blobeye has shorter gear ratios for 5th and 6th. 1st - 4th are the same as UK equiv.

My 500+bhp Spec C delivers 18mpg, so a much lower powered Newage should deliver slightly more. lol

An Classic RA box is waaaaaaaaay shorter than a Newage JDM.

And my STI Type UK isn't 500 bhp, and manages 26 mpg.....
