UK car versus Type UK
As I understand it the differences are only equipment related ie. bluetooth phone, tracker etc on the Type UK?
So the Type UK is just a limited edition with a few more goodies and better warranty?

type uk is a uk dealer supplied vehicle and the non uk car is an import with a few minor bits missing and warranty is one of the issues but it is still warranted albeit its a bit more tricky to get dealers to do the work unless you pay for the work and claim from subaru direct.understandable when they are the middle men.Badges are different

type uk is a uk dealer supplied vehicle and the non uk car is an import with a few minor bits missing and warranty is one of the issues but it is still warranted albeit its a bit more tricky to get dealers to do the work unless you pay for the work and claim from subaru direct.understandable when they are the middle men.Badges are different

a non import is just a bog standard uk dealer supplied model like the "2000 Turbo AWD"
could be wrong -- often am!!

I was researching the difference between a UK 2.5L WRX (non-import) and a 2.5L WRX Type UK.
They are apparently different cars, but mechanically the same, just the interior gadgets are different and an extended warranty on the Type UK (5yrs/50k instead of the usual 3yrs/30k)

'Type UK' cars are the UK supplied variants of the STi. JDM, USDM, euro etc STi's are STi's, not STi Type UK.
I think the Type UK badge also featured on the original UK supplied 22b's as well, but as far as I'm aware it doesn't apply to anything else.

Maybe the 2006+ WRX's are referred to as Type UK as well then? Haven't come across it before, but thats not to say it ain't so. Pree 2006 I think what I've said above is probs right though.

whats this about the 5 year warranty instead of 3 years??
i am looking at late 06(56) and 07 models at the moment with a bit of warranty left, with a 5 year on the 'type uk' this opens up my options a bit

the offer was 5 years free servicing (or 50,000 miles) and 5 years warranty (or 50,000 miles).
I'm not sure if the servicing and additonal warranty was transferable, Personally I'd still buy the later model car

I bought a 04 Type UK STi, the car was imported from europe by a dealer and sold as a UK registered car from new. As far as I can tell it is mechanically the same as any other STi. It did not come with a tracker as standard, hence I have a dantrack system not the RAC one.

Only difference according to the info I have is that the UK cars came with better standard security.
My concern is that insurance companys will load the premiums due to this.

My quote from my regular broker was for £530 (for a UK 06 WRX), I'm 36, car kept on driveway at my house in the UK close to the Lake District. I have 9yrs no claims with a completely clean license, thats with a £250 excess.
If I go for a £750 excess the quote comes down about £100.
I compared that against a Mitsubishi Evo VIII I've been considering and the quote was £750.
When I asked about the effect an import would have on the insurance the guy said he'd have to ask the under writers.
He did mention under no circumstances buy a Cat D registered car, he reckoned the insurance companies are taking a dim view of these cars.

From what I can gather my type uk is not considered an import as it came from within the EU. The dealer simply sourced his stock from outside of the uk, hence the parallel import not grey import.

Usually tarted up verions are called "flair" or some other catchy name.....I'm just not sure why IM came up with "Type UK" which was already in use for the STi
